It's gonna use Linux I believe.

Also, I don't think it's gonna be that much of a computer, is it?

Yeah man it has a mouse, keyboard, built-in speakers and about 2 GB's of Corsair XMS RAM.

LOL.

People, stop having fun with the newbs. P

playa, of course the PS3 is a computer. It is NOT, however, an x86-compatible PC. You cannot run Windows on it.

It is reported to run the same type of XMB environment as the PSP and PSX, complete with web browser, photo browser, etc. It is also rumored that Sony will pre-install a Linux distro on the HDD. It is unknown at this time if this will be a dual-boot scenario, or one where XMB actually runs on top of Linux.

You can't run Windows on it, HOWEVER, you can run a car over it.

Nintendo Wii all the way!!!

I didn't fall for it, I was simply open to new things. )

It is gonna use Linux and I know it's not gonna be a computer, but it will be as expensive as a decent one and have a shit load of accessories.

I'm just glad it's expensive because I'm getting one from Freepay for as many refs as I got my $400 GC.

PS3 looks ok... The controller (in my opinion) blows, you don't have pressure sensitive triggers for racing games and I don't much care for the games. I really a fps kinda guy anyway.

if you're talking about the boomerang controller, they dumped that for the DualShock 3...

I know, that controller just doesn't do it for me, no pressure sensitivity, and the analog sticks are right next to each other. I really prefer the 360 controller.

i'm pretty sure it has pressure sensitive buttons...

cwncool

11-06-2006 17:43:33

yeah. even the dualshock 2 has pressure-sensitive buttons. i've used the feature before in Grand Turismo...

I don't think so, if you take apart a ps2 controller you will find no pressure sensitive triggers (those are the L+R triggers on the 360) the ps3 has no pressure sentivity.

I think he was refering to the pressure-sensitive Analog sticks.

ILoveToys

12-06-2006 06:05:15

no...he means on the xbox controller for example you can engage the triggers less than all the way.....so...in racing games you do not have to hit the gas completely...you can work into or slow down as needed w/out completely getting off the gas....I'm pretty sure [b9eacfcdfac]that's[/b9eacfcdfac] what he means...

Funny you mention that. I bought my kids a PS2 way back when they first came out (stood in line past midnight on release night). I was watching this discussion and thinking that the PS2 Dual-Shock had analog buttons since day one, but didn't want to look like an idiot and say so, nor did I really care enough to go look it up. )

If the PS2 had analog buttons, then I'm certain PS3 will have as well.
