Playstation 3 - 20GB vs 60GB

For anyone planning on buying a PS3, will you be buying the 20GB version or the 60GB version?
Is 60GB too much space, like some say about the 60GB video ipod?
(I hope this discussion hasn't been posted before)

Doesn't the price of the 60GB somewhat diminish your desire to buy one?
There's no way I'd pay $600 for a gaming system.

how can we debate this now.. we dont even know how much game saves, downloadable content, and other stuff will take up in space.

Just mod the 20GB to hold whatever you want. Save $100.

I probably won't get one at all because of the price (I might try a PS3 free site though) If I were to buy one it would be the 20GB. Swap out the actual HD with a 60GB since you can get a 60GB HD very cheaply!

the 20gb version doesnt have HDMI support so im DEFINETLY gonna go with the 60gb version. If you're smart you'll buy 2, sell 1 on launch day for MASSIVE profits (think xbox360) and it will be like getting a free or hella cheap ps3 D
It doesn't really matter if it has HDMI or not.. The only difference between a Component and HDMI is that HDMI has 1 connector, where as Component has 5. There's no difference otherwise except that HDMI has HDCP (which is something you don't really 'WANT' to have anyways).
If the HD swapping is possible, I'd go with the 20.. If not, then I'd probably go with the 60..
Doesn't matter much to me anyways, I'm not crazy about having a PS3 and I don't intend on owning one until the price drops.

ummm no....I think without HDMI you won't be able to play the copy-protected blu ray movies in a year or two

bear in mind the 360 was in a very fast rush to make as many units as possible whereas the ps3 has the time to make much more units than the 360 did by launch day

60GB for sure!!!
HDMI's PQ is equal to that of Component.. I don't care what anyone says.. HDMI is an overfabricated standard (I'm not saying it's a bad standard, I like the idea of a smaller, single connector). I'm just saying that having an HDMI connector makes no improvement of the performance quality. It's like people who think Monster cables are the best cable to use and that it's (x) times better than any other cable out there... Yeah, it's insulated and has all the fancy sounding features like "Nitrogen injected" and "24K Gold Plate Turbine Cut Connectors", but all that fancy crap doesn't affect the quality as drastically as it sounds...
As for Copyrighted Blu-Ray.. Sony is going to have to think about that for the 20 GB models.. I'm not ready to jump the gun on a PS3 and Blu-Ray Player for this reason..

Wait.....do these things still have regular TV-Out? (My mom is to cheap to buy any HD Tv's yet)
Here's the sum of what I'm trying to say
- Only buy the HDMI model if you have a 1080p television or have a nice bank of HDMI on the back of your TV.. Sony is going to have to come up with a way to have HDCP on the 20 GB version.. and I'm thinking that the 20 GB model will have a chip with HDCP built-in.. If you don't have a 1080p display or have more than 1 spare HDMI connector.. Stick with the 20 GB version and upgrade the HDD.

ironically, most the 1080p tvs will NOT support 1080p input, they just upscale everything!! (now, by the time the PS3 comes out though, i'd imageine there would be some tvs capable of the input) If the hard drive is the only difference for you (not wireless, mem card, and hdmi) i'd say go for the 20 gig, and update it with a bigger hdd if you need one!

If Halo was on PS3, there would be no need for Xbox.

i second that!! it's 2x as powerful as the 360! everyone will be PWNED by the cell processor!! what confuses me though...
360, 3 general purpose cores, each with 2 threads...6 threads...
PS3, 1 core 7 spes, 1 reserved for OS, so, 6 threads, one per spe (i'd assume that there would have to be some sort of bottleneck from the 1 core, because i'm pretty sure they've got to go through that before they go to the spe) so where's the real advantage there?? yes i've seen the specs, but theoretical and actual are 2 huge things. I just dont see much the difference between the 360 and the ps3 that would get me to ever spend $600 on a console (hell, even $500) at one time.

there are plenty of 1080p TVs that actually ACCEPT 1080p signals rather than mere upconversion....
