Just wondering what ya'll pay for insurance and what you pay it on....and of course who provides it.

I don't know, I'm paying $253 for my Yaris, full coverage with Allstate.

Just wondering how that compares to others ?

How's that Yaris? I've been trying to convince my mom to just get me a used car but she insists on getting me new one and the Yaris looks very cheap.

She's also waiting 'til we're financially stable before she puts me on her insurance. Did you get on your parent's policy or did you get on one by yourself?

I got on my moms policy, so that got me a few discounts....and I got a "Good Grade Discount"....but with the $500 deductable it's $250.

The Yaris is freaking amazing...I've actually had a few people come up to me in stores and ask me how I like it. The grand total after taxes and extended warrenty was 18.5 or so...but you can get the basic hatchback model for 12.5 like the commercial says. I do believe the base price for the base model of the sedan (automatic) is 14.1. It's a good price for the car, but the damn insurance is costly.

I love the Yaris. It's so awesome and small. I love small cars so.....

Here is a picture

Can you say awesome?

I think the Yaris looks cool but I need a family vehicle (sigh)

As for insurance I pay 110 for two vehicles, 1999 Saturn SC1 and a 2002 Ford F150. My husband gets a good rate cause he's a school teacher. I get a discount because I am getting my grad degree and also both cars are paid off so we don't need full coverage.

I wonder if gender makes a price difference. I could probably get the good grade difference too, since I make straight A's.

The yaris looks great from some angles. The hatchback reminds me of the Scion xA. I wanted a Scion tC, but this is cheaper.

You didn't know this already? That has been the case since forever. Males are statistically proven to drive more recklessly and be involved in accidents, particularly during the teenage years. When my oldest daughter and son were teens and reached driving age, my son's insurance was almost double that of my daughter's.

As for my own insurance, I pay $77/mo with State Farm. Full coverage, $250 collision/comp deductible, roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement, etc. etc. (the whole 9 yards). That's on my 2001 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4x4.

i dont drive (terrified of it) but when my boyfriend gets his new scion box (ugly but very wonderful lots of room and 30+mpg), the full coverage rate will be about $550 for 6 months. through farmers insurance.

they just adjusted his policy a bit, and on the 1990 camry station wagon he has now, it is $294 for 6 months... but that wont last too long. the new car will be bought very soon, hopefully, so he will have to get full coverage on it since he has to finance it due to not having $15,370 to get rid of right now.

I get insurance coverage through my work. But i would end up paying about $105 for my 94 Saturn.

I have allstate and pay about 90 for 2 cars, rates really drop when you get married! I could get some discounts from my place of employment (it being one of the nation's largest auto insurers and all) but the rates i got from allstate were the best i could find! )

Not sure if it's the same here or not, but in the UK when you hit 25 your insurance rates take a nosedive.

21 gets you a discount with some insurance carriers, but 25 is the BIG discount with almost all of them AFAIK. That and getting married.

Other ways to get good discounts with most of the major carriers driver's ed/driving school, honor student, multi policy discounts (multi cars, car + homeowners, etc.), time without tickets/accidents, having an alarm system that disables the starter, and time you've been with the insurer (10 years usually gets you a nice discount, it did with mine).

I have American National on my parent's plan. About $90/month, that's after good driver and multiple car discount. I'll be on Brandon's once we get married, and he has Progressive. I think he pays less per month than I do right now, and he's got full.

Anyone know anything about renter's insurance? lol

ETA I have a 99 Ford Escort, four door with full coverage. It has less than 50,000 miles on it, lol.

We had it when we lived in an apartment about 8-9 years ago. I recommend it highly. I only got it after being robbed, which when the insurance found out, they wouldn't write me for less than a $1000 deductible. Which is okay for homeowners, where your losses are expected to be higher in case of fire/weather/whatever, but a bit much just for rental/contents insurance. So get the insurance BEFORE you have a loss. Renter's insurance was cheap too, only about $14/mo IIRC.

We're actually required to have it where we're moving (there's a fireplace) and I've never had it before. I'm from Gary...if someone jack's my shit down here, I was probably stupid and left the door unlocked. ;) I just need to find a good company as Progressive is only automobiles.

Many times, buying renter's insurance through the same company as the one that insures your car qualifies you for a "multi-line/multi-policy" discount. In my case in both the last city I lived where I had State Farm, and now where I have AmicaI pay literally the same amount of money to have renters and auto insurance as I would pay for just auto insurance.

Same here. I have AAA, and my total bill was actually $5 less per month after I added renter's insurance.
