I seriously wonder why always the hating on my avatar. Its obvious that everyone but fgr_admin the only one that should care has not complained about it.

Because people assocaite avatar with a post. I don't even look at the names half the time. If I saw a post with a http//www.bar-of-soap.com/images/johanssen.gif[" alt=""/img26937b7316] avatar I'd just assume it was JJJ and not even look at the name. I've many times thought you were fgr. Why not just change it?

Everyone here has different views. It's near impossible to change peoples opinions, and even more pointless to try online. These threads [u5a108bd276]always[/u5a108bd276] get out of hand and people get offended.

Mon Jun 5, 831 AM ET

A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.

"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an "animal island" protected by thick concrete blocks. [/quote9df7b85a81]

Well, in my bible, my God doesn't like to be tested in such a way (If you exist, blah blah blah). It's no wonder he got eaten. ;)

I was mostly joking, but I'm Christian. In the Old Testament, God would have reacted nastily to something like that (remember the story of sodom and gomorrah). But I haven't read the bible front to back yet, so I can't tell you anymore. ;)

I was just curious. That's a huge change, going from deifying Christ to believing that he was only a teacher -- or a prophet, at most.

Wolfeman

I'm kicking the tires with Christianity and my girlfriend is really into it. She's non denominational and I like her views and the take on the Bible, but I don't know if I can bring myself to lay my life down for Christ. I know that if I can't turn my life to Jesus, we'll eventually have to break up. I can't really blame her. When she wants to start a family, she should have someone on the same page as her spiritually. I know what it's like to have to beg the dad to come to church with you, but doesn't because he's too tired, or whatever. But yeah, I feel you man.

Wolfeman

05-06-2006 14:39:41

Yeah same situation, she wants her kids to be raised Jewish and if I'm not it just makes problems. Not like we are going to have kids soon but we don't want to be 2 years into a relationship, in love, and realize we have to break up...

burritopunk

05-06-2006 14:45:36

Yeah. We've been dating for 2 1/2 years. I do think it's important to raise a family in an environment that both the parents are comfortable with. I just bet if we break up, its going to be one of the hardest things to do, and will haunt me for life. Breaking up with someone and hating them can easily be forgotten, but breaking up with someone you still love dearly is another story.

Wolfeman

05-06-2006 14:50:07

Thats why I'm dreading it with my girlfriend. It would be breaking up because we know there is going to be major problems but we still really like eachother. I'd convert if marriage became a real option for us but its such a hard thing to do...

drummer_kew_03

05-06-2006 16:56:15

I don't think you should convert to a religion that you don't believe in. Even if your faith in Christianity is gone, converting will only cause more problems done the road. Is it really really hard for you, because you still have some faith, or because you don't believe in Judaism?

Wolfeman

05-06-2006 17:02:53

Its just a big decession. Judaism is the basis of Catholism so its not a huge chage. No more Jesus but I'm not that convinced in him anyways. Jews have a ton of rituals and stuff that I'd have to learn and I'd have to give up things like bacon and ham ) We wouldn't be kosher but even right now she won't kiss me all night if I eat bacon. If I wasn't at least open to the thought of conversion, we'd not be dating. As the relationship gets more serious, so does the conversion thing...

Wolfeman

05-06-2006 17:12:03

Its a tough situation but I'm willing to make it work. I mean I wish it wasn't like this but if I want to marry her I'm willing to convert, she just needs to make it up to me in the sack )

That's how my family feels about me too. However, my dad thinks that you'll have no memory of your family when you get into heaven so apparently they won't even know I existed. Whatever. They can have fun worshipping god for eternity. I think I'd get bored around, oh, say year 6484695767906709.

this is one thing that really pisses me off about devout christians. They say that if you don't believe in god, you're automatically going to hell.

Well guess what folks. If I don't believe in God, then I don't believe in Hell either, so why is my non-belief becoming my ticket down? That is faulty logic at best. That and there are going to be a lot of Buddhists burning in hell.

27-03-2008 22:33:00

I'm going to keep it short and simple

1. I believe in God.

2. I am [bab52189b70]not[/bab52189b70] a Christian, nor have I ever been a Christian in my life.

3. Everyone has the right to believe and practice in their own religion. (As long as it does not promote violence. For example "radical islamic fundamentalists").

4. You should never force or persuade a person to follow in your beliefs. (Who am I to judge a person for believing in a different God or no God at all? Its none of my business.)

5. You respect my beliefs, I'll respect yours.

That about sums it up.
