Hi,

I am planning to buy an Xbox 360 probably today but I'm not sure how i should buy/order it. I can save $20+ in taxes if i order from newegg. ($11 shipping)

Or would you recommend buying it in the store? If that's the case, which store would you recommend in terms of "if something happens, i can exchange for a new one".

Thanks in advance

It all depends on the shipping. That is the big difference. If shipping is 20 bucks or 10 dollars or more, go with the store because you will feel better about buying it. If shipping is dirt cheap, buy online.

I don't think any of the stores will have a good exchange system unless you buy an extended warrenty.

On a related note, i just got my 360 back from Microsoft yesterday after it was freezing up and i had to send it in to be repaired. The turnaround was only about a week and a half from when i called them, so it was pretty fast.

How much do extended warranties on the 360 go for by any chance?

thanks

I have an AE credit card. How would this 1 yr warranty work or rather how do I get it?

Thanks

Ok, i've pinpointed down to a few stores. Which one would you recommend is the best place to purchase it?

Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, or Gamestop

If there is one around you, go to Costco. It's probably the best bang for your buck. You can return anything within 2 years and there's no need for a reciept or box/manuals.

If you're old enough to get one, get one.

They're really worth it. You can get a lot of stuff in bulk for cheap prices.

I don't know if you have to have a business to apply or not. My mom has a business, so I don't know if that was a requirement or not.

A friend of ours has a card, and he doesn't own a business so you might not need one.

if u live by me u can buy one at sam's after i walk ya in )
https//www124.americanexpress.com/cards/selector/?CCNR=CARD_SELECTOR <- pick ur card

for example, blue has this policy (not sure if there is no warranty)

Automatic Protection — Charge your covered purchases entirely to the Card and the Buyer's Assurance Plan1 will extend the terms of the original manufacturer's warranty for up to one additional year on eligible purchases.

Double Your Warranty — For example if you have a six-month manufacturer's warranty, we will add another six months. If you have a one-year manufacturer's warranty we will add one additional year.

Coverage Up To $10,000 — So don't think twice about those big purchases - the coverage is good for the amount charged to your Card for the item or $10,000, whichever is less (not to exceed $50,000 per Cardmember account per policy year).

Thanks!!

Another thing, do i really need the extended warranty? Are the newer 360's running better and not overheating? The warranty is $40 at GameStop.

Mine is about 2 months old, and it started freezing up. But it is still under warrenty, so microsoft sent me a box to ship it back to them with, then sent me a new 360, all in about a week and a half.

its 45 for the year, but they refund membership fees if for any reason you are not satisfied....but you may not be able to use the return policy

Costco ftw. I got my 360 at BestBuy though with a 2 year replacement plan so that if anything happens it's them replacing this $500 thing.. not me. But when I talked to a few people at BestBuy they said you can't just walk in and get a new one.. they have to mail it to Microsoft and all that jazz and you get a new one like that. Ugh.. that's so stupid. I got the BestBuy warranty because I thought it was BETTER than the MS one, not the same.
