is this laptop capable of dvd burning and reading copied dvds? sorry im not that tech, i dont think it can but would like confirmation. if not, can anyone recommend a good dvd burner that will fit this laptop? preferably external drive, although they cost more. nothing high end, just something quality but cheap that will get the job done. thanks

No, it's a cd-rw/dvd rom. It burns cd's and lets you watch dvd's. Check ecost.com.

thought so.. will this work with it? http//www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1552711&CatId=483

will the laptop itself read dvd-r,dvd+r, etc?

yeah the laptop will read it. Why not go for a laptop that has a dvd burner already? There are laptops for only $50-100 more with it instaled. Yeah that external dvd burner will work, but what is the point of a laptop if you have to go lug that around? I'd just go for a laptop that has the dvd burner already installed.

to know if a laptop or computer can burn dvd's, look for something like this

dvd +/- r , dvd +/- rw

or if it says dual layer burning...
