I still can't actually believe that's the real name for it. What kind of [i8868bcdfae]idiots[/i8868bcdfae] do they have in their marketing & research panels?!

I've got to tell you, IMO at half the price of the PS3 and $150 less than the xbox360, they're certainly going to get their fair share of sales. Still, I can't imagine shelling out $250, let alone $400 or $500-600 for a game system. I'd rather take a great weekend trip with a friend.

A weekend with my 360 is better than my friends. Now if I can only get my girlfriend to wait on me )

I think they are going somewhere with the two i's each one representing one of the two Wii-motes expected to ship with the system.

anyways who cares what it's named its just going to be called nintendo to me, and it'll launch with a realiztic zelda, metroid, and a new smash bros not too far away hopefully.

heres hoping for some 5 ref wii sites

I was happy with the name Revolution. Wii is just an odd name.

Nintendo lost me with the GameCube. My daughter has one, though and likes it.

I'm waiting for the DS Lite next month. Maybe one of these freebie sites will get the DS Lite (I've not completed the DS4Free.com OC site yet).

Isn't the Wii supposed to be backwards compatible with the GameCube games?

Wolfeman

25-05-2006 14:04:36

Whats different with the DS Lite?

justinag06

25-05-2006 14:04:52

yes also they will have a virtual console where you can DL(for $) any game from NES-GC

it comes with a standard controller for this, somewhere inbtw a snes controller and a gamecube one

ds lite is just smaller i think, they are always coming out with smaller gameboys

25-05-2006 14:30:05

they will get sales. i will get one eventually. hope it isnt like my gamecube that i bought and since i like mostly multiplayer games on it and i moved away from video game buds i have played it like twice.

Wolfe, the DS Lite is smaller than the current DS. And it's all white (like an iPod). It comes out June 15th. I never wanted a DS before, but this one looks cool and they now have the new Mario game.

Sorry about butting into the Wii thread, but it's Nintento related.

i'll do a free site for this system

I'm buying one. One thing I've come to love was Super Smash Brothers!!! that game ruled!!!

plus nintendo is genius for thinking up teh concept of a fighting game with characters from different games on it!

I'm sooo excited!!!!!! or maybe even more excited because the price for the ps3 really really dissapointed me.

26-05-2006 16:08:53

anyone remember Nintendo's VirtualBoy?

haha. Some poor souls paid hundreds for that

then a little over a year later I picked one up on clearance for $40 with some games...just to tinker with it and such.

It wasn't even worth $40 I can't imagine people that paid 300 for it. Although some of the games were decent (if you could get past the horrible red on black graphics which I couldnt)

still $40 was ok just to take it apart and play with it

27-05-2006 11:48:02

Ok first off the virtual boy was awesome the only problem was that it cause eye damage if you used it to long...but meh thats just a minor detail (I don't see that happening with thw wii so I doubt we will see such a short life span)

Secondly the name sucks ball they really should have stuck with the revolution def much cooler

third this console is going to rock I have been loooking forward to its release ever since I saw the controller in action. I think once people try it out and get "used" to it they will be all about it. Nintendo is always blazing the trail with innovative technology. For one quick example (im not positive about this one but 98% sure) they were the first company to move away from the d-pad and now everyone has done it.

Fanboys are going to love it but on the wide scope of things I can't see it being successful. I mean the XBOX controller is too complicated for some people let alone this craziness. Wii will have a niche market but won't come close to PS3 or 360...

JOSHBOX

27-05-2006 12:14:39

hey I still have my virtual boy... it was tight cept for the eye damage to young children.

if anyone is interested...evidently FYE is taking preorders instore. $50 down, likely will be system of choice + 2 games packaged.

thats the whole point behind it, the wii controller will be the most simplistic and intuitive one on the market. Anyone can pick it up and instant get the hang of. Ever played wario ware for the gameboy? it has a built in gyroscope so you tilt the gameboy the game reacts. All you do is tilt and press A. Yet it is one of the most fun games ive ever played, and everyone always loves to play it, because you can pick it up in a second and get the hang of it

and you are right popo, nintendo has made every innovation in controller technology we see on the market today. Shoulder buttons, then the anolog stick, along with the C buttons for the first set of 3D games. On gamecube it was digital buttons, the harder you press the game reacts differently.

i guess sony was first to use dual analog and adding a button onto the sticks itself but the c buttons were pretty much a 2nd analog stick.

the fact that sony already jumped on the wii bandwagon and tried to hastily throw in some gyroscopic elements into their controller is enough to let you know they are worried..

don't forget the rumble pack.... sony and microsoft both pay their part to use nintendo's rumble technology.

I read PS3 wont have a rumble pack though because it interferes with the gyroscopic thing.... thats too bad (

It's going to be $200 in the U.S. All Nintendo systems launch at $200. I'm going to do a free site for it! Hopefully it will be 4 referrals.
