I'm sending in a approval form to Freepay in a envelope, using 1st Class.

How can I find out whether or not it is delivered? Last time I went to the Post Office, the lady said that I couldn't get Delivery Confirmation.

Spend the $4.05 and send it Priority with Delivery Confirmation! Pay and print your label online at the USPS web site and Del. Conf. is free.

For items this valuable it just doesn't make sense not to send it that way.

Also, you should consider getting Signature confirmation as well. That way you'll have a name of who signed for your package, not just a tracking number.

Can I use Priority with a regular envelope?

No, your envelope will have to go in an official Priority Mail package. They do have envelope sized ones though. Your post office will have them for free.

Oh dang, guess I have to "repackage" my approval forms. Thanks for the tip, godrockdj.

Not positive about envelopes, but they have Priority Mail stickers to put on plain (non-Priority Mail) packaging.

I do all my own shipping from home USPS, UPS, and FedEx. They all will send you free mailing/shipping supplies. Or just stop by the P.O. and grab a Priority Mail letter envelope, take it home and print your shipping label online. Then just leave it in your mailbox. Easy as pie!

not sure if delivery confirmation and signature confirmation would both be needed on the same package but i am not sure.
i send mine delivery confirmation, that is usually enough

Sig Conf trumps Del Conf, so you won't actually get both. Whether you want SC depends on how paranoid you are. )

Delivery Confirmation merely means the mail was received at the local post office and dispatched via mail carrier. As far as I know there isn't an actual scan or recording at receipt time. I could be wrong but I've received a lot of delivery confirmation mail pieces and have never noticed my mail carrier scanning it as he delivered it. Now if you're shipping to a PO Box, which IIRC you do with Freepay, then it's almost the same thing the PO scans it in and puts it in their box. However if it goes out with the carrier for delivery, technically there could be an "opportunity" for it not to be delivered, as unlikely as that would be.

Signature Confirmation requires the carrier to obtain a signature from the recipient, which confirms that somebody at the recipient address physically received the mailing.

For all of my shipping purposes thus far, including Freepay, DC was sufficient. However if you are overly concerned, SC costs an extra $1.05 I believe and would provide some additional piece of mind...

Priority with Signature Confirmation accomplishes the same thing, and you don't have to go to the post office. Certified requires you to go to the PO. However certified would be cheaper if you weren't wanting to pay for Priority...

Six of one, half dozen of the other. )

No, you can go ahead and just use a regular envelope and get it sent priority. I've done it a few times. They'll just throw a priority mail sticker on it, however I'd suggest just using one of the big ones that they have for free on the online store or in the actual store, because the bigger the envelope, there's like 1% chance less it won't get lost.
