RAM help

My friend Dell Inspiron 600M and currently has 512Mb of RAM. She would like to upgrade to either 1-2 Gb of RAM and wants to know where to get it from and for how much?

Also, is there any difference between brand name and discount RAM?

Pretty good deal and I just bought RAM for a friend for his Dell. She shipped and gave a confirmation number around 6 PM EST and I bought it at 5 PM EST.
