I'm am looking for a good quality long range USB adaptor for my computer. I really want it to have quite a large range. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Senao has the best rep for range and power. They are sometimes rebranded as EnGenius and other brands.

Do you have any specific sites that you've bought from in the past. They dont have that brand on new egg, and it is hard to find places that sell them on google.

Well, they are the cream of the crop as far as wi-fi goes. Retailers are going to carry cheaper and more mainstream brands.

I popped Senao into Google and still got hits for e-retailers, so I'm not sure where you're looking.

If a Senao is too much for you, go with an Orinoco (Proxim/Lucent/Agere/Avaya) or Atheros card. They aren't as powerful, but are good performers. The Atheros cards are often rebranded by Netgear/Linksys/SMC.

I think this is the one I am going for

Do you think it is alright?

That looks great. If you can afford it, go for it.

On a sidenote, that looks like it might be bigger than the dimensions of their PCMCIA cards, so it's entirely possible the internal hardware is one of those cards with a USB/External antenna interface.

He wants long range, and not all of the el cheapo ones offer that. Most especially not the ones that end up free after rebate. )
