I'm looking for a Scientific Atlantic Explorer 8300HD DVR. Time Warner charges $15 a month just to have it. Might as well buy one for that price. Has anyone seen one of these for sale other than Ebay?

eBay would be your best bet, although looking through the shops and classifieds in electronics pubs like Nuts & Volts might land you one.

But you need to be careful and make sure you'll be able to use it with your service. The firmware on these things are often customized for the particular carriers so they aren't all necessarily compatible, and even when they are, some carriers refuse to activate them if they didn't supply them. You wouldn't want to spend the $$$ and then not be able to use it!

I have a few JP1 programmable remotes from them, but I just can't get them to take new programming that way. So, if you see the connector when changing the batteries, just push that idea out of your head. ;)
