My friend lives in Israel and she needs DVD software that can play Region 1 DVDs from here and Region 2 that she bought over there. Anyone know the simplest way to get this done?

VLC is free and plays virtually everything under the sun except for Real.

If I'm not mistaken, it will handle multi-regions for you. I'm not certain of that, however. It might depend on her DVD drive.

Wasn't this friend your girlfriend at the start of the week? wink
Anyway, I don't think VLC actually lets you play different region DVD's although I may be wrong
I was always under the impression you'd need something like AnyDVD. That's what I use, it just sits in your System Tray and removes the region protection from the disc. This also lets you copy different region DVD's.

She is kinda, its a wierd situation with her living in Israel and all.
I'll have her try VLC and get her AnyDVD if that doesn't work...

According to a boatload of Google hits, VLC ignores region encoding.
