Had a video ipod and I sold it for $250.00, it's decent but I wanted one with better sound. I'm not into watching videos and movies on it since the screen is so small. My main issue is great sound, maybe used as a extra hard drive, equalizer and photos....

I thought about the iaudio x5 but someone said it's trash and it's old. How is the Creative Vision M I think it's called?

Give me some good ones for around 250.

Get a Zen. This German kid in my school has one, it's green, it's ridiculous quality in sound, video, and pictures. It's made by Creative.

Wouldn't the sound quality depend more on what you have your music encoded in and what headphones you were using than the player ?

I would assume it has to do with both

The Zen is great.

I thought iPods were some of the loudest. Hence the stupid lawsuits and subsequent firmware update to lower the volumn ceiling. I know my 20GB 4G is capable of going way way louder than I can tolerate... )

don't buy from Creative. Their mp3's are cheap and trashy.
I got a zen touch 2 years ago.....hard disk broke in a couple of months.
got a brand new one from creative and sold it on ebay.

got a zen micro next. broke again due to earbud jack mulfuctions, I decided to give it another shot, well after using it for a couple of weeks, notice that the battery drains in least then one day. Got a refurished one and sold that on ebay.

Never had a problem with my ipod nano and video at all.

iPod all the way! I find the iPod's audio the best. I had a No-Name MP3 player...it seemed great.....but then I got an iPod Shuffle. The words were more clear! For my birthday I got the Video iPod. I LOVE it! If you buy an iPod agian iWould recommend white. The black looks nice but scratches sooo freaking easy. If you don't care to much about size (well you must not if your considereing a Zen wink ) get an older iPod with a 60gb hardrive on ebay. Then you could have more HD space and all using the money you got from your video ipod.

Like someone else said lostless and Shure(?) headphones are the way to go D

I'd say go for the Zen. I had a link for a Zen for $230 on OutPost.Com but it expired about an hour ago. ( You can always look for one on eBay though.

One of my friends used a variety of Creative products before (no mp3 players) and said they were all crap or they broke easily. This was back when I was deciding between a Creative Zen and an iPod. Even though I don't have any personal experience with a Zen or whatever, I wouldn't recommend getting one.
