Well, technically speaking, this isn't a [i231ce3183c]cure[/i231ce3183c] for cervical cancer. It's a vaccine against a virus that leads to 70% of cervical cancers. So, yeah, it's a wonderful thing, but it's not treating the cancer itself, it's blocking the cause. Therefore I don't think this research would help much against other forms of cancers, at least those that are not triggered by similar virii.

Still a great breakthrough, though. I would want my wife and daughters to get it.

yeah i am so sick of how people in our country in general are so anti-sex education, anti-sex this and anti-sex that yet sex is in everything, and it isnt like french tv where it is blatant, it is subtle and that seems worse.

people are also stupid when it comes to sex. lets not educate our kids about safe sex; if they dont know about it they wont do it! ask the kids whose moms are 12 years older than them about that one

as for the vaccine. no vaccine is perfect, no vaccine lacks side effects. this is a great breakthru, though. interestingly enough some other vaccines have shown promise in helping reduce the risks of other cancers thru mechanisms we do not understand.

about this vaccine leading to more sex, most people dont know shit about HPV so it shouldnt change anything...kids didnt know about it yesterday, knowing a vaccine out there today wont change anything. people have known cigarettes are horrible for you (in fact the worst man-made health danger ever created) yet people still smoke

I think this is a great breakthrough. Just recently I've noticed more and more information getting out about HPV.

Besides, it shouldn't be a debate over sex education, it should be all about the fact that HPV CAN cause cervical cancer.

It has not been offically approved yet. The FDA board has only approved a recommendation that it be sent in for a full FDA review.
