WHat would you pick? I need to make a video presentation and it has to be good (imovie will do, I know finalcut, but imovie will certainly do). this computer will be made to carry back and forth from here to the presentation in NYC and in Missouri, and it needs some power.

What would you pick and why?

k this is for school and we're getting money from the board of trustees and the rest of the team wants a mac. It's gonna be most reliable during a 24 minute presentation, so anyone else?

imacs are doable too if anyone thinks they'll be good

I never said it was portable, I said it was the Mac I would pick if I could get one for free.

A Macbook of some kind, I'd prolly get a 13" MacBook, just because It is very easy to transport...but maybe a 15 or 17" Pro if it is for making a movie the larger screen may be good...

I'd say upgraded to 16GB Ram, 1000GB Hard Drive Space, quadro FX 4500 512MB SDRAM Graphics Card, Dual 30" Displays, Airport Extreme and Bluetooth, Fibre CHannel PCI Express Card, and Apple Care... and your total comes to.......... Subtotal $22,069.00

I want the 2.0 GHz White MacBook.

I hear it's pretty easy to upgrade HD and memory on the MacBook (not on the MacBook Pro, for some reason). Would it be cheaper to go w/ the basic specs of 60GB HD and 512 RAM and upgrade yourself?

nice observation, I'll consider that

dont forget a case to protect it and to never leave it unattended anywhere. trustees tend to get pissed if u lose stuff like that and then stick u with the bill )

No clue on HD, but RAM is simple to upgrade in either... at least the Powerbook and Ibook were both simple, so i'm asuming the same... I think if I was buying one i'd get it with a single 1GB stick, and then add another one on... but cheaper to upgrade from 512 and sell the 512, but i don't wanna deal with selling it... and HD I don't care about, cause I have a 200GB external...
