Well a mix CD and before I get flamed to death, she specifically asked me to make her a mix CD. She likes punk rock so no need for Elton John songs. Hit me up with some ideas )

MyungChunHa

17-05-2006 13:14:50

Does she like hip-hop?

If she does I have hundreds of ideas to give to you....Got nothing for punk-rock though....BTW, who are you making the tape for?

Sex Pistols ~ Pretty Vacant
The Buzzcocks ~ Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)
The Clash ~ London Calling
Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster ~ Celebrate Your Mother
THe Hives ~ Hate To Say I Told You So
THe Jam ~ The Modern World
The Libertines ~ What A Waster
Muse ~ New Born
Nine Black Alps ~ Ironside
The Vines ~ Get Free
The White Stripes ~ Fell In Love With A Girl
The Futureheads ~ Hounds Of Love

ALot of that isn't Punk, some of it is but it depends if she's into the new pop-punk (P!ATD, Good Charlotte shite) or proper Punk. I put some songs in there that I love but aren't Punk, just a little heavy/sweet. D

Wolfeman

17-05-2006 13:16:59

My "girlfriend". She lives in Israel right now and she requested a mix tape. Not so into hip-hop unfortunately...

Wolfeman

17-05-2006 13:17:58

Thanks TSJ. She is a girl so she likes some of that pop-punk but I hope to god she doesn't like Good Charlotte. She isn't exclusive punker but thats her favorite. She like Coheed and Cambira, Blink, Bad Religion, NOFX...

She may also like iForward Russia! (the I at the start is actually supposed to be an upside-down !). But yeah if she likes Good Charlotte, change your name and address and never speak to her again. wink

swing life away by rise against is a good acoustic song by a great punk band.

Anything by the Ataris. "looking back on today" is a great love song.

"Don't you ever leave me" by hanoi rocks.

"love comes in spurts" - richard hell and the voidoids

"bloody april" - river city rebels

"above me" rufio

"firefly" saves the day

"i love the way she said LA" - spitalfield

the last few aren't really what many consider punk, but maybe pop-punk ish? reguardless, they are great songs.

This is great. In highschool i made comps all the time, this is taking me back! Hope youve got some good ideas now. (

I wanted to but it didn't fit. She had some songs I don't care for but she loves so they had to go on and "The Decline" is like 18 min long but an awesome song. Its still not 100% but very close...

Craig

22-05-2006 18:12:31

your forgetting one very important punk rock band(she will love this song)AFI miss murder!editwhy my chemical romance?have you seen the videos of them live? shock

Wolfeman

22-05-2006 18:24:26

Yeah I might dumb MCR. If I do put an AFI song, I will probably put Morningstar...

Craig

22-05-2006 18:32:00

afi>mcr
good for you knowing morningstar!
(obssessed fan-sorry-i cant spell obssesed either))

justinag06

22-05-2006 19:11:47

you can always overburn the cd and add an extra 10-20 min of space

http//www.vladd44.com/other/overburn.php

Wolfeman

22-05-2006 19:12:57

Do overburned CDs play in most CD players?

justinag06

22-05-2006 19:15:39

always worked fine for me

I dont know much about them as I only found out about them 6 months or so before I got an ipod

but cdrs are nothing, you can always burn and see

This is pretty cool, I never knew that you could do this before, but it says in the window that you can break your recorder this way...why take that kind of risk?

Wolfeman

22-05-2006 19:18:31

I just don't want her to get it and have it not work. I have to send it to Israel...

justinag06

22-05-2006 19:26:25

send two

Wolfeman

22-05-2006 19:28:36

Maybe. I might just get rid of the MCR song and find a good AFI replacement and send it...

Wolfeman

23-05-2006 01:37:03

OK so got rid of MCR and the Ramones ((), added AFI - Morningstar and
Face to Face - Disconnected, changed Sublime April 29th, 1992 to Badfish...

[code162791f7247]1. The Dead Milkmen - Punk Rock Girl
2. Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down
3. Blink 182 - Josie
4. Unwritten Law - Harmonic
5. Sublime - Badfish

mnx12

23-05-2006 14:38:12

There are better AFI songs than Morningstar, check out Now the World

EDIT Actually, if your looking for more of punk AFI, then This Secret Ninja is great, or even Malleus Maleficarum

JordanE

23-05-2006 15:00:00

AFI really isn't a punk band.

[code1476794d75f]1. The Dead Milkmen - Punk Rock Girl
2. Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down
3. Blink 182 - Josie
4. Unwritten Law - Harmonic
5. Sublime - Badfish
6. NOFX - Decline
7. Social Distortion - Ring Of Fire

16. Angels And Airwaves - The Adventure
17. Thrice - Red Sky
18. Coheed & Cambria - Wake Up[/code1476794d75f]

Tis a shame, theres actually quite a lack of real punk music on that list. A good 50% is pop punk at best.

Wolfeman

23-05-2006 16:02:32

Well real punk died in the 80s so...

Its for a girl, it has to be girly.

Craig

23-05-2006 16:12:20

yes the list is kind of...off
afi is punk,im not arguing here about it though
listen to their early stuff as well, and you'll see what im talking about
pswhy the hell did you take off the ramones?they basically started punk rock

Wolfeman

23-05-2006 16:16:19

Just didn't fit with the flow.

Craig

23-05-2006 16:17:16

ah,true,plus I don't know this girl,so I wouldn't know what she likes.
hope all goes well

i'd have gone with

thrice - kill me quickly or Trust from "the illusion of safety"

those 2 songs are great for girls!

or...you could've gone with the greatest song ever....

Kon Kan - Arts In D Minor/Harry Houdini
