ok so not trying to open a debate about the current presidential speech.
Maybe this isnt a good idea but...
Just curious either
1. where are you from?
2. what culture?
3. religion/ethnicity if u want
4. if you are not in the country in which your family has lived for 100's of years, where did they come from?
5. any idea what those 1st generation people did?
i tried to leave this open for all people, but mostly this is for americans

for me
1. I was born in the USA, mom and dad were born in the USA, grandma and grandpa on both sides were born in the USA.
2. American...Italian/Polish
3. born catholic...now spiritual
4. my mom's grandparents came from Italy and Poland, my dad's grandparents came from the Hungarian/Polish/Czech/slovakia (depending on what year!) border (maly lipnik http//www.tccweb.org/malylipnik.htm)
5. my dad's grandparents changed their last names slightly to avoid anti-eastern European sentiment. ALL of them worked, including the women at first and then they took care of the kids. the men mostly did low-paying factory/ship/dockwork, etc as far as I know
