I heard him on the radio before while driving to the airport on Weds morning. I remembered the lyrics, googled them and found the song. It's like very interesting. "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. Anyone heard of him before? Supposedely hes super famous in the UK.

I love DJ Danger Mouse's Gray Album but have only heard a couple of Gnarls Barkley songs. They've been at #1 in the UK for about 4-5 weeks I believe.

oh man i got really excited when i saw this topic! Gnarls Barley is great! Dangermouse is sweet, and I've always been a fan of Cee-Lo. I never knew they were really big in the UK though, i thought they were just some obscure group that only the guys on my hiphop messege board were into. I need to pick up that cd, i only have a couple songs off limewire. thanks for reminding me!

Does he have any other listen-worthy songs? Crazy is the best song I've heard in a long while.

Cee-Lo is alright, I've never really loved his style, it's good but gets boring real fast...

Danger Mouse on the other hand is always freaking sweet, he comes with something new all the time and is so versatile as a producer....

Never heard of Gnarls Barkley before, but just thinking about Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse producing together sounds awesome to me, although I still think the combo of Danger and MF Doom is a much better sound....I'll have to find out myself...

If you don't have it already, you need to get the DJ Danger Mouse "Gray Album". He mixed Jay-Z's Black Album with The BEatles' White Album.

I thought it would be shit but I love it. I think I'll listen to it now actually.

Masterfully put TSJ, that is actually the album that made me fall in love with Danger Mouse's music, I heard a couple other productions by him but I didn't pay much attention to them (I should have)

If anybody remembers, people tried to follow and make their own Black Album remix (the pink album, the blue album, [insert random color here] album, etc.) but failed miserablly, a couple are good, but none live up to the Grey Album....He just put it together so well and easily it just sank me into it until the album was over and I got pissed there weren't any tracks left....

well its in the top ten of oink every week for a while know along with the new ghostface killah album, so I wouldn't expect these to be a typical "mtv rap song of the week" fans picks. However more attuned music finds might find it fucking amazing.

I'm pretty sure that he means he likes crap-rap, like 50-cent and G-Unit, nobody with any real talent....I hate those types of groups, they bring hip-hop down and they kill the image/tradition of rap....It's dispicable that this is the type of music that draws crowds in, I respect it because they are doing their own things and making a hell of a lot of money off of it but it sucks that nobody is exposed to the real artists; they are kept underground and mis-represented, it really urks me, but change will come soon....mark my words, crap-rap will not last.....

I'm not sure who you are talking about but that is definitely not where I am coming from, I judge completely on talent and 90% of rappers that get played on the radio have no talent, I don't know how they blow up and get popular but they sneak through and make millions in the process all the while bringing down the very foundation of hip-hop...I know it will change soon though...just everybody wait...

uhh, yes i have heard gorrilas and they are hiphop, or rap, or whatever you want to call it. and yes, they are extremely annoying and awful. i dont care if you hate my music, i just know that this is terrible. and yes, that modest yahoo guy can be reggae, but he is also hiphop/rap crap and he, nor does gorrilas or charles barkely belong on a rock radio station...

Besides that fact that it's spelt Gorillaz, they are not a hip-hop group. They have two songs from their first album, self-titled, (which is all I've heard) where the rapper Del the Funky Homosapien (yes, that is his name) guest appears. But the rest is not rap. Their single from the second album, Demon Days, guest stars De La Soul. I haven't heard the entirety of the second album, but the rest of the songs I have heard do not have any hip-hop on them. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, and formed an opinion on the group based on a few singles.

As for Matisyahu, I do give your uneducated opinion some credence, because the new "reggae" around these days fuses rap into it to speak to a new generation of young people, quite often raising political and spiritual issues in their songs. However, it is still labeled as reggae, and Damian Marley, one of Bob's sons, has been a spearhead in this new fusion.

I don't listen to rap much anymore. I respect it, but I don't listen to it. However, ignorance always irks me. So now you know.

I love welcome to jamrock

there is definatly a hip-hop element to both artists, but I still consider it reggae first and foremost.

I'm half jamaican too, so I grew up listening to all sorts of dancehall and shit my whole life.

shrug Never bothered me. Radio sucks anyway, so any station that plays decent music is good in my book. The thing that irks me most is that fact that you make a blanket statement regarding rap/hip-hop when it's clear that you choose not to listen to the genre.
