OK,

I had xp, and then i put on some vista beta a while ago to try out.

Well now i need to clean up a little bit, so vista has to go. Since its on a different partition from my xp I wanted to just wipe off the prog files and windows folders from xp, but its locked. I don't wanna format my other partition either, because I have a lot of other important crap on that partition too.

How do i go about doing this, is there an uninstall or something.

Theres no "real" way to uninstall it. I downloaded and installed IE7 beta months ago and I hated it. Had to deal with it though. There is a way but it isnt a simple uninstall. Luckily im a Firefoxer.

No clue about how hard it is to remove Vista, but uninstalling IE7 Beta 2 went smoothly for me. Are you referring to the [i0876f49d5a]old[/i0876f49d5a] beta 1 or the current one?

well i figure removing an OS would be slightly harder than removing a web browser

You shouldn't install beta anything on your system especially an OS unless its on computer you don't need or can just wipe clean...

You should have installed the Vista OS on a new partition so you could have wiped it if you didn't like it.

Wolfeman is very correct. You never want to install BETA OSes on systems you need/use regularly.

Anyway, to uninstall you have to pretty much reformat your harddrive and re-install your XP. So, anything that is important to you, you'll have to backup on another harddrive.

shit mayne, well atleast its not the partition my xp opperates off. I guess i will have to clear up some room on my XP partiton, save some stuff on their and my ipod, and clear that sucka out. Is there not a way to remove the restrictions and delete the Visa windows and PG files folder while im on XP.

If you have Vista set as your Primary OS to boot from, log on to Windows XP and press Windows Key + Break.. This will bring up the System Properties window. Click the Advanced tab. Click the Settings tab in the Startup and Recovery part of the tab. Next, click on Edit. Delete Windows Vista from that file, leaving only the Windows XP. Click File -> Save and close out of that window, and click OK on all windows.

Right-click on My Computer and click Manage, then Disk Management.

Click the drive letter of the Vista partition and right-click and click Delete.

Gotta run... I'm still at work. If you have any issues or want me to walk you through it; I should be off from work in about 1/2 hour.. Just send me a PM.

well that is good for cleaning it out of the bootup, i can wipe the parition clean, but its just a lot of backing up to do. I keep all my shit on that drive. Music, porn, digital pics, and other shit. I guess i just gotta go commando, and save my shit, and then format that fucker.

Here's my suggestion. If you have to install to your system drive (you don't have any other drives to install to) get this program called Acronis True Image. Simple to use program, make backups, install operating system du jour, when you decide you dont like said operating system, reinstall old one from image!
