I'm thinking about getting a new car. There are so many choices. I want to keep the price range between $10,000-$15,000. I also want a 2006/2007, something with no miles. Anybody have any suggestions? Best thing I've seen so far is a Yaris, but there's got to be more to choose from.

Your help will be greatly apperciated, and rewarded with karma.

Scions are nice cheap cars...

Acura RSX or Integra, Honda, toyota.

actually the yaris is a pretty tite choice. If you can hold off for next years model, its always the way to go. First year jap cars always seem to have problems, after a year or so all the bugs seem to be worked out. Dodge Caliber also looks pretty tight, but i would rather hit up a Yaris.

ya the new dodge looks pretty good. for that price range you're not gonna get much options. if you were to go a little higher, i'd say check out the mazda3. best car out there, IMO

but if you're going for the cheaper car, get a scion. they're a couple years old, but they're still good.

I would get a Scion tC, decent card for its price.

get a car with room (chevy tahoe?) so you can play poker in the back seat with girls from your school..

that's what I'd do..

Scion tC's are like $17,000 before you even start adding things and without tax and stuff. That's probably what I will get soon. I have wanted one since the car show a couple of years ago before they came out. Either white or that grey color. Niiiiceeee.

what's you aversion to something 2-3 years used? You can get into a very nice car for the money you're talking about spending.

yeah i wanted a new one to get the warrenty and so fourth. i never heard of the vibe until just now, that's the first suv type car that i've been intrested in. thanks.

aveo is nasty, don't like that, the fit, the scion model that looks like that, or any of "those kinds" of cars.

If you're looking for a new car, check out a Nissan Sentra SER, although you know what they say about new cars... they depreciate $5000 once you leave the lot.

Vector

08-05-2006 20:43:20

Just get a Japanese car, the SER is very nice!

Keep in mind the 2007 Sentra is coming out, but there will be NO SER model, the new 2007 sentra (out in japan for a few years) looks like an ugly pontiac (from the few pictures i saw), so it would be a good investment to make....

although, SER is $18,000 and $20,000+ if you want 6 speed stick or a lot of nice features

nice new car D

The difference between a new Aveo and a used Accord coupe in price is minimal - fun, drivability and looks is significant. Almost every new car has a 100,000 mile warranty, and many can be bought "certified used" (which always been oxymoronic to me - what they're certifying it [i1db499abb2]is[/i1db499abb2]a used a car?).

Anyway, OMW if you're looking for recommendations, you're going to have to give us more info about what kind of car you want; 2/4 door, sporty/SUV/family truckster, reliable transport/car to trickout etc.

100,000 mile warranty my ass!

That is only Hyundai! The korean cars that wish they were japanese.... (btw kia and hyundai are starting to bring higher quality cars out, they are moving up!)

My car had 3 year/ 36000 miles warranty

if it is your first car, you might want to get a used car, a good 8-10k $ car with low miles, def japanese

I love honda's so get one. Best car ever we had a 93 for 13 years with no problems, then we went toget a chevy malibu like a month ago and that shit was a 03 and the door panel came off. I'll never get one of those again, plus the stuff inside felt like it was made of cheap plastic. Don't buy a new car because well it'll depreciate like 6 or 7 thousand as soon as you drive it off the lot. So find a used one with like 530 miles or less. it's possible, you jsut have to be patient.

True on some cars, but not on Hondas, Toyotas, or Nissans. I'm looking for 4 door automatic, because I'll be making long trips. Also needs cruise control, bur I know you can get that seperate.

No, depreciation is true on ANY make of car; the resale value ANY well made car is just going to be higher.

And where can you get cruise control separately?

well i was thinking of getting the Yaris....so i searched yaris on ebay...and they had a "cruise control kit" for like $220...don't know if it's true for all cars. I know all cars depreciate right when they got driven off the lot, but some do more then others. Honda and Toyota hold their value really well.

if you're looking at that type of car, seriously check out the mazda3. most cars that get as good gas mileage as the 3 don't get nearly as good performance, and the 3s also are comftorable, and all in all really good cars. check out the sedan, or the really sweet 5-door hatchback. lol

if that dosn't work out, check out the toyota matrix. i don't know what the price range for that is, but it isn't much

DON'T GET A FOCUS! they're crap, and if you're worried about depreciation, a focus will kill you more than anything else out there.

a 5-6 year old honda anyone will buy. but a 6 year old focus? i didn't think so

Cruise control is standard on like everything. what cars DON'T have it?

even worse is that you're basing a desicion on that? it's like saying you won't buy a car w/o a rear wiper, no matter how good the car is.
