i think it would be really cool if fipg started a weekly raffle for all aits members and the winner would get a green on one of his sites. what do you guys think?

justinag06

06-05-2006 19:20:06

great idea

you are going to give that weekly green right?

theysayjump

06-05-2006 19:22:40

It is a good idea but it may prove to be difficult trying to find people willing to do so, or even able to do so.

Maybe we should have a lottery.

We have everyone put in $1. After a day/week/whatever, all the money is pooled and a random lottery member is chosen.

And that member wins!

Hurrah!

That sounds more logical.

Yeah that does sound like a good idea. The winner can have the Paypal or a green on fo their choosing, within limits of course.

Where is this magical green going to come from?

I used up all my "free green gremlins" so I hope some one else has a few.

I think a better idea would be to raffle off a pre-paid GC or CC. Everyone submits $1, weekly winner drawn. I scream like little girl to find out my bribe to TSJ worked. I spend money buying back pictures I gave to TSJ as bribe and hope he didn't post them on the internet (AGAIN).

I'd say stick to the money.. and limit the eligible participants to 1,000+ posts wink

I made copies. wink

I should've been more specific about the green. I meant we find someone who can do the site and pay them with the money that raffle produced. Not everyone has Paypal and not everyone who trades, trades for cash or Pays people to do sites.

Also, a post limitation would make sense but not 1,000+.

I'd be up for this, as well as mananging it somewhat.

i have an idea- you draw 2 names from the $1 lottery, 1 of them gets a free green, and the other gets all the lotto money for doing the green. if they can't do it, then another name is drawn until someone can- but i doubt that would be a problem because it would end up being a lot of money )

fgr_admin

06-05-2006 21:51:34

Well the problem with paying for green is scammers. I would prefer cash..... I am greedy though

I may have a raffle on my incentive sites.

hehehhehe

06-05-2006 22:47:14

Don't forget about the damn paypal fees.

theysayjump

06-05-2006 22:59:44

Well for there to be $1 put in from each person after Paypal fees, each person would actually have to send $1.33 to cover the fees.

Not a huge deal.

tjwor

06-05-2006 23:57:09

well, i'm in for a weekly $1.33 shrug who do we send it to, and when do we do the drawings?

Whats wrong with comppimp?

theysayjump

07-05-2006 00:28:33

How about we draw them every Sunday at 9pm EST?

You can send the money to me since I seem to be the only Admin/Mod interested and I'll have my wife pick names out of a plant-pot.

Also, comppimp is never on so there's no point giving him money for not doing shit.

justinag06

07-05-2006 00:31:50

I love gambling but only when I have an edge

P

I for one am not going to fork up $365 or even $52 a year for a raffle

sorry

also just make a personal account, I have changed mine back and forth from personal to business like 5 times.

if you have a persoanl account you have no fees recieving money

you can also have two paypal accounts

just open another bank account and make a new one.

one for recieving payments from trainn and using ebay, one for trading and getting paypal.

theysayjump

07-05-2006 00:50:55

There's no stipulation that you'd have to enter into every weekly drawing. If you have $1.33 to spare one week, jump in.

justinag06

07-05-2006 01:16:05

you guys should give me a free green on yfvi since this was my idea lol

Iloveipods2

07-05-2006 08:16:42

yeah, I can see this working. probably a weekly green is kinda expensive but a monthly or every 2 weeks one is pretty good.

a) FiPG would pay a set amount for someone to go green

b) You cannot win twice

c) since there's alotta dead users around here, if winner does not respond within 1 week then another will be drawn.

d) you have to have been a member for over a month with 50+ posts

hmmmm good idea. + karma, let's all push for this.

so what, you expect admin to pay for a green? Or are you goin to give the green every 2 weeks? I think a simple $1 raffle where people pay to play is good...

bullseye4u

07-05-2006 11:14:01

here is my idea play party poker each guy pays 50 dollars

play regular NL hold'em 10 players or more each pays 50 dollars or how many people would want to play for

like a tournament only for freipodguide members

and prize poll example

first place 300
second 150
thid 50

something like that it would be fair and fun )

justinag06

07-05-2006 11:32:43

its 250, 150. 100

fyi

and what the hell does that have to do with FIPG? you can do that anyways on your own.

thats what I love about party the compitition at the $50 level isnt that much better than at the $6 level

unknown uchiha

07-05-2006 19:48:28

Poker tournament, PNAA would rape us all -.-

How about limit it to like the "regular" posters? i.e. people with 500, 750, or 1000 posts.

$1.33 entry fee, and like weekly drawing. Two winners- one gets 1/2 the pot, the other one gets a green (The other half of the pot, minus $20, goes to the site and the $20 goes to paying for the green)

OldManWrigley

07-05-2006 19:54:45

I myself did not get around to reading this thread until just now. I think a $1.33 a week raffle would be awesome..... but just make the post count >50 o . I also don't think that a poker turnament between any willing FiPG members would be a bad thing, but that would be seperate from the raffle. Anyway, sounds like a good idea. Nice brisktea.

syriandoode

07-05-2006 20:05:27

I like it the whole splitting into half with one winner getting money and the other getting a green. I also like it better if TSJ does the drawing out of a plant pot cuz we can all trust him.

i think...

[quotee0fd447f15="ilanbg"]A green as a prize would just complicate things. Just have one winner who gets all the money.[/quotee0fd447f15]

yea, greens are dumb, then what if I win a green? I don't do referal sites... either do 1 winner all cash, or 2 winners %70/30...

theysayjump

07-05-2006 21:36:28

Minimum post count of 100 so that people can't join and spam as easily inbetween drawings.

Fixed $1.33 entry fee, covering Paypal fees.

I'll take care of the cash unless anyone has any objections.

Drawings take place every Sunday at 9pm EST.

All entries must be received by 830pm EST. If you send the entry fee after 830pm on a Sunday, expecting to be entered your entry fee will be refunded.

At 9pm EST on Sundays, my wife will pull one (1) name out of a plant pot.

The winner will be notified though PM, announced in the thread and the Paypal will be sent to them as soon as they "claim" it (reply to my PM giving their Paypal e-mail). If a "pot" (pun-intended) goes unclaimed for 3 days it will be void and entered into the next drawing.

There will only be one winner since we don't know how many people will participate. Splitting $8 between two people doesn't really give people much of an incentive to "pot-in". Maybe if there are quite a few people interested there will be more than one winner in the future.

Did I miss anything?

syriandoode

07-05-2006 21:49:52

sounds good but once every 2 weeks would be even better to let the pot build up.

theysayjump

07-05-2006 22:01:00

Yeah but not many would want to wait that long or may forget about it.

What if we raised the entry fee up to $2.36? Covering the Paypal fees and it'll leave $2 from each person. The pot should go up a decent amount then and it's still not breaking the bank.

tjwor

07-05-2006 22:02:40

There'sthe problem with holding raffles and each person being from different states.

Thoughts?

[quote4d4e482234="fgr_admin"]hey since it looks like you all are serious about doing a lottery or such. I figured I woul dpoint out its illegal to run an internet lottery, raffle, etc.

Since some participants will be in different states, countries, etc and laws are different in each one. One sore loser and admin gets sued.

However that said I think a different approach would work wonders.

Run it as a envelope auction.

You list a envelopes for sale thread
limited to 100 total envelopes (can be raised as more people want in)
All envelopes are virtual email envelops
each envelope costs $2.50
maximum purchase is 2 envelopes (this can be rasied as # of envelopes increases)

Now once all 100 envelopes are sold
all virtual envelopes will be sent out, not before all are sold
each envelope will have a different prize
total amount spent on virtual envelopes is $200 (the balance will cover paypal fees and modest amount to mod whos stuck doing work)

So lets say envelope breakdown is as follows

1 is worth $100
1 is worth $50
1 is worth $25
1 is worth $15
1 is worth $10

the other 95 will have virtual fortunes or quotes of the day crap

So everyone has 5-100 chance of winning

Then as more people want in you can inrease all amounts.

So 200 envelopes, 4 envelope max buy, $2.50 each, payout as follows

1 is worth $200
1 is worth $100
1 is worth $50
1 is worth $30
1 is worth $20

Or you can double # of winning envelopes. Etc etc[/quote4d4e482234]

KeithA

Are there examples of the "virtual envelope" model online? None come to mind, but I'm worried that a lottery by another name is still a lottery...

Like I told TSJ I stole the idea from ebay. So instead of running an illegal lottery your running an auction for virtual envelopes. Been doing it on ebay for long time. So pretty sure it skates any laws, lol.

Jams44
