My idol is a con artist who did the following (I'm trying to figure out his name)

The dude bought used parts of Russian uniforms and sewed them together to create his own uniform. He then went into a Russian base and ordered two officers to follow him. Outside the base, he ordered the officers to fight and interrogate some random guy in the street. During this ordeal, he snuck into a train, changed out of his costume, and escaped. The general who he impersonated thought this was so funny that he gave him a full pardon.

So. Anyone know the name of this person? I've been searching google but I've come up with nothing.

Ha, what was his motivation, just to see some guy get his ass beat shrug

Yep. That's why he impresses me so much; he pulled off something that could have given him substantial power or money, but instead he risked his life for one grand act of amusement. That kicks so much ass.

Actually, this happened during some war. I'm not sure which (WWI or WWII, or maybe even during the soviet era).

Damn, I was wrong again, that movie was actually based on a real life person, that's pretty cool, didn't think anybody could pull off something like that...
