Anyone else had their ipod crap out on them?? I bought the damned thing less than a year ago and it's crapping out on me. I don't want to send it back to apple though, because I have opened it and tried to mess with it..I got it to work for a little while again, but it has been slowly degrading ...ugh.

get it to work as best you can. Then sell it on eBay and let the next chump worry about it.

Or, buy one at Best Buy or something and switch out the ipods in the box then take it back.

Nope. Stopped working BEFORE I opened it. I only opened it as a last resort. I didn't realize that Apple had a warranty and you could send it back, I thought I would only be able to take it back to the store I bought it at (Target) ..and when I couldn't, I read some stuff online that said to take out the harddrive and thump it. (Weird, I know.) It started working for a little while but has crapped out on me again..

Gah! I wish that would work. I'm tired of this. I think I'm gonna try and buy a new hard drive off ebay ..
or maybe take it into an apple store.
But I don't have the reciept anymore either, so I doubt the warranty would still hold. This is so exhausting ><

I hate iPods ever since after the Photo. I would switch to a different MP3 player in an instant if they were supported by iTunes, which is the closest thing to a soul-mate I'll ever find.

I have been wanting to switch too. Only problem is, I've got all this extra crap for my ipod now, that I recieved as gifts and such. I've got a car kit and a little speaker set for it. Maybe I'll just sell the whole lot on ebay and buy a new system. ( But now I'm depressed. I have no music to finish my final projects to. Spending hours and hours in the art dept building will be boring as hell now ><;;;

Isn't the Creative mp3 player supposed to be really good? The Zen I think it's called....

I have a Creative MuVo N200 512 MB flash player. I got it for the FM radio and MP3 recording function, but it's great overall. My only regret was that it wasn't compatible with Napster or the Yahoo service.

My wife has my old 3rd gen 40 gig as well as HER original 40 gig 3rd gen and they're working just fine still, so is my iPod Photo 60 gig and her 4 gig Nano but I bought that for her not too long ago. So no problems with ANY of our iPods thus far.

I have read that. As long as iTunes remains unprecedented in simplicity and efficiency, I think I'm stuck with an iPod.

I've heard nothing but negetive things about the Creative Zen, unfortunately. This is just hearsay, cuz I've never used one. So take it with a grain of salt. But I love my iPod. And iTunes is awesome.

Creative Labs makes great players. w00t.com had one yesterday for $160. 40GB player. Helluva deal.

iPods for the most part, do in fact.. SUCK.

When I had a 20 GB iPod, I had to have the thing switched out countless times from various issues... Battery life depletion, click wheel shorted out, sad ipod face, dead ipod face, folder with the (!) symbol, ipod froze (crashed) in the middle of a song, constant song skips (even though the mp3 was perfectly fine on the hard drive, and lastly.. hard drive plinks/clunks.

and I'm real careful with my stuff... I had a iSkin for my ipod. Ended up selling it on eBay for $120.. It was my FreeiPods ipod.

I have a 20 gig 4G iPod and have used a few different Creative players and like the iPod way better. The controls on the Vision M are just hard to use and the UI on the Vision is confusing (as well as the Vision M)

I'm just wondering what Apple will do for 6G...

my ipod is in good condition right now... only complaints are
1. it takes forever to charge (1-2 hours)
2. battery depletes like that... I can get a good 8 hours of music on one full charge
3. sometimes it's sluggish... when i try to turn it off i have to repeatedly press and hold down the play button or else it won't work.... and then sometimes it freezes for a while over album art

hopefully my ipod will last me at least a few more months...
