So if any of you are into anime/manga... DeathNote is being made into a two-part live action movie. The first one is due out June, the second one following in October/November [bb262de800e]in Japan only, with the only hope of it seeing North American shores in the form of Netflix or imported DVDs at Rasputin's/Bootleg VCDs in Chinatown[/bb262de800e]

DeathNote is about a genius scholar named Yagami Raito who's bored of life and the people around him, who are like pretty much stupid compared to his level of intelligence. Ryuuku is a Shinigami (traditional Japanese death god) who's also bored of spending time rolling dice and stuff in the Shinigami Realm. So Ryuuku drops his "Death Note" into the human world, where Raito picks it up by sheer chance.

The "Death Note" is a killing tool that Shinigamis use. The person whose name is written in the Death Note shall die, simple as that. There's rules to it such as you need to have their full name and know what their face looks like so you don't accidentally kill another person, it has to be their real name, they die of a heart attack within forty seconds unless you specify the death, etc.

Raito embraces the Death Note as salvation from his boring world and plans to kill off all the "bad" people and criminals and making a utopia where he is God and rules over everybody else, creating world peace by killing off all the people with bad intentions. After a bunch of criminals die of heart attacks worldwide, including those on Death Row, the UN mobilizes against the killer who they've started calling "Kira", a name which derives from the word "Killer" that these "fansites" give Raito since they don't know his real identity.

INTERPOL asks for the assistance of a man named "L", who is regarded as the "World's Greatest Detective". His identity is only known to a man named "Watari" who is his contact in the real world while L hides in the shadows. L and Kira have a showdown on national TV which leads to a fierce competition to seeing who can outsmart and find the identity of the other and kill them first.

This is the third trailer for Death , the first that actually shows footage. The first one was mostly text and promotional shots, and the second was a pointless teaser. Enjoy!
