I don't really know what happened. I was doing fine on my wireless laptop, connecting to my main desktop. I had to go somewhere for 5 days, and when I came back, my connection seemed a lot slower then it had been. Before I left I was getting 125kb/s download speeds on Limewire, now I can't seem to top 50. Also, my IP is different. Bottom line, is there any program like an "Internet Optimizer" out there that has worked for anyone to speed up the connection?
-I'm sorry if this belongs in the HELP section shrug

[quoteaf3d719bf8="xigxag"]first thing I would do is use a bandwidth test other than limewire.
broadband reports[=http//www.dslreports.com/stest]broadband reports has a few. Do some test on the wireless laptop and compare with the same test on the wired pc.[/quoteaf3d719bf8]
I did this one test that loaded a picture before, and it loaded in something like 11 seconds. I just ran it and it took 27.

did you compare the speed of the wireless laptop to the wired machine?

Here is a step by step method to fix your problem.
unplug system
place system outside in yard
go back inside
read a book and/or talk to your wife/kids.
leave system in yard until you know what you are doing with it.
of course, I'm kidding... or am I? )

Is your network secure? Is someone hijacking your wifi?

Yeah, I would try changing the WEP/WPA key on the wireless router (WPA is better). Oh, yeah, and ditch Limewire, torrents are where its at...yayaaa! (170kB/s.)
