so sitting here at jury duty. waited all morning and then they took an hour and a half for lunch. they come back at 145. then more waiting. see if i can get out of serving by stating that serving can delay graduation etc. (which it can)
so it is boring. just figured i would share.
it would be better if people on whom I am waiting would green, or i would get the manual credits for which i am waiting. that would be nice (

I was on the jury for a double-murder trial. It wasn't boring at all.

I want to be on a jury so bad. I had call in jury duty last month and everybody thought I was crazy to be mad that I didn't get called in.

I wish you could switch places with me. I have to be at the courthouse at 9am tomorrow when I generally fall asleep at around 6. If I'm lucky they won't read my number when I call at 430 and I'll be able to sleep in. I'm definitely not a morning person.

I'll try to keep it short. An 18-year-old kid was accused of killing his older brother and his brother's 15-year-old girlfriend. The prosecution's strongest evidence was testimony that the two brothers had been arguing days earlier, and that the (deceased) older brother had fired a warning shot near the head of the accused. The prosecution's two star witnesses were acquaintances of the victims and the accused who returned from a weed pickup to find the two victims dead of 8 gunshots each. These witnesses waited about an hour and a half before calling 911.

The two star witnesses frequently contradicted themselves and each other. There was no explanation for the 1 and 1/2 hour delay between discovering the bodies and calling 911. There was no murder weapon; only circumstantial evidence and testimony suggesting that the accused once had a gun that matched the type the prosecution's expert said was used for the murders. Additionally, the older brother was known to have many other enemies.

We acquitted the guy, and I think he was innocent. Even if he wasn't, the prosecution did a miserable job eliminating "reasonable doubt." I was actually offended when they brought out two full-scale dummies, punctured like pincushions by 2-foot-long needles to indicate the bullets' trajectory. It was clearly a last-ditch effort to play on the jury's emotions and sympathy for the victims.

so at 330 they told me they needed no more jurors. so 7 hrs of sitting on my arse to get out of jury duty for 8 years. not bad i guess )

well in NY they arent exempting for anything. u have at the very least have to show up and have the judge excuse u in person. u can defer once.
