Hi, I'm looking into starting up my own freebie site and i'm wandering if anyone can either give me some advice or point me in the direction of any sites that might be able to help.
I've got some basic experiane on building sites but not too sure how complicated these sites are. A friend has offered to help me out but if i can i'd rather do it on my own
Any advice is welcome

I'd never sign up for a free site who'se owner can't even spell. Sorry.

I believe Admin once said something similar to this
If you have to ask, you shouldn't be doing it.

Actually, everyone has to start somewhere...so how would it be possible to do it if you never asked shrug ?

All good ideas.....well apart from the bottom two ;)
I've got a few good ideas but just don't have the techy savvy yet, have started working on the site but it's all just cosmetic so far just need to get to grips with the nuts and bolts behind it.
I've got a lot of good ideas regarding the marketing side to it, i'm from the UK and although we have Gratis and giveaway there is still a gap in the market which I think I could fill.
I might just cheat and buy a script if I can't do it, myeasyscripts is one i'm looking at at the moment

Avoid myeasyscripts at all costs. I'm currently running a highly customized version of myeasyscripts on CasinoCashUnlimited, and it's a pain in the ass. The code is sloppy, there isn't much commenting, and Jad (the owner) is somewhere overseas so there is no support. Further, the way the script is written (pretty much every function is a direct query), it's pretty tough to make any significant changes without rewriting a huge chunk of the script. If you can't do it yourself, hire a coder and have a custom script written.

I guess so, but in all honesty, you probably want to do both of those plus ask as many knowlegable plp as you can gaining as much knowledge as you can before you even think about stepping foot through the door...

I have heard a few mixed reports on myeasyscripts so might have to investigate further, i've seen a few sites where freelance writers can bid for your custom so that might be another option. It looks like I need to do a lot more research before I start splashing the cash

Yep, avoid them. The one I got does it's purpose since it was custom, but as for adding things....it's a pain. And they'll rip me a new one. It also could have been written much better.
Avoid them.
