Well I haven't bought anything in the longest time since getting into the freebie scene, so this one was actually a big deal for me. Now I enjoy photography, not to the professional extent, but I still enjoy taking that perfect picture once in a while. I've been living my life on an Olympus C-3000 which at the time I bought it was an insane camera. A whopping 3.0mp with a 3x optical zoom capicity. The camera is nice to take your conventional pictures and what not, but since my dad bought a 44" wide printer because he wanted to start a side photography job for me to keep me busy, we didn't have a good enough camera to go along with it. Now you may be saying 44", wtf? Yeah it cost an arm and a leg and has been sitting in my basement as I used it to print out mass quantities of dvd covers, but now it'll actually be used. I suppose what triggered me into finally buying a new camera was the fact that I love taking pictures, especially at sporting events and when I took some red sox pictures and decided to print one out on the printer using my Olympus and it came out decent, but I wanted something better.

The only reason I don't have a camera is because the things I would use it for would put me in jail...

yeah its absolutly monsterous, definatly not your typical camera. I'll probly only be using it when I want insanely good pictures, but If I'm at a part or something I'll be using the Olympus. With the lens out the thing is like 7" long..

I'd try investing in a tripod and taking it to those types of games.

Consider a monopod. They are commonly used in sporting events and such where seating and space is tight. Your pictures will look a lot better.
