ok, here goes
Is it illegal to offer music vids for people to watch/dl on ur blog or website? I'm thinking the answer to this is yes, now that iTunes makes u pay for them, but then again I don't know. Isn't the point of music videos to kind of "advertise" the band's music "visually", to get more people to buy their stuff?
It's illegal. However, apparently if you post a disclaimer noting that you're providing the music for "preview" purposes and ask users to delete them after 24 hours, it's fine. shock

I guess I'm not seeing the difference between downloading a music video online and recording one your DVR and putting on the ipod?

technically recording on ur DVR is illegal too unless you solely keep it for personal uses.

itunes makes you pay for every thing immaginable.. i dont even bother with them. allofmp3.com is my source for downloading music.. its legal and cds are only $3-4 and sound no different than the ones you buy in stores.

I run an afi fansite, missmurder.net, and i host all their music videos, as do almost all the other afi fansites. i have been emailed by the riaa about song downloads, but never about videos.

Rofl. In the strictest sense of the word 'legal'. It's a Russian loophole. You're paying the russian mafia more or less.

You're right, there's not too much of a difference. Both could be argued as 'fair use'. But you're not talking about "downloading a music video online", you're talking about "providing music downloads online". Both a casual user and a drug dealer are in the drug trade business, but one of them is a lot riskier of a profession than the other.

So all that is needed is the disclaimer?

[quote7cb42b11cb]This material is ment for preview purposes olny and must be deleted within 24 hours of downloading. If available it is always recommended that you purchase a legal copy.[/quote7cb42b11cb]
Pretty much, but I sure as heck wouldn't take you seriously with that ~li~lovely~li~ spelling and punctuation.

lol its not ment to be taken seriously. I could care less if people delete the files they download after 24 hours. But aslong as I post that i'm no longer responsible for there actions.
EDIT Nice avatar btw.
