What to say when giving notice?

I'm quitting my job at Walgreen's, and giving my notice on Tuesday.

The job is boring, the hours are shitty, I'm out of there.

Here's how the hours would go 330-10, or 430-10, all the time. If I work Saturday morning, it's 8-330, or 8-430. It's not so much the length that bothers me, but til 10 PM blows.

Anyway, I want to still hopefully have a good reference from my manager, so I'm wondering how to say I want to quit without pissing her off too much.

Any advice is appreciated.

"I'm handing in my notice".

Simple.

hehehhehe

No matter how much the job sucked and even if the manager was a bitch, make sure to thank her and try to seem grateful. Don't tell her you're quitting because the job sucked either, just tell her you need to leave for personal reasons.

Leave no bridges burned...

Yeah, I'm going to tell her that I really need to concentrate these last few weeks of school to get the best grades I can get (she's really hardcore about school being important).

I was just looking for the best way to say it, because I do want to keep her as a good reference. She's pretty nice though, I've only got one assistant manager that is a huge bitch.

I wanted to let you know that I am resigning from this job because I want to concentrate on these last weeks of school. I also wanted to tell you that I have enjoyed working here, and I thank you for making this a positive working experience. Thanks for all your help.

Something among those lines... wink

Just say you've enjoyed working there but the hours aren't working and you are moving on. Be to the point but polite and maybe even write a short letter to hand in as you tell them. That way they'll be a good referrence.

seriously, just tell her u want to concentrate on school and u enjoyed working there. now the other thing is, you should never quit a job unless u have another ligned up, except under certain circumstances. get a job at somewhere that u can get good discounts and do the microsoft training to get free stuff )

I'm not really in a position where I NEED money right now--I've earned enough from free sites and this past job to keep me going for a while.

I've applied at Best Buy, but I'm not really sure where else to go. I'm almost 18, and I've had 2 different jobs, so it shouldn't be too hard finding a job elsewhere.

try to distance yourself from the situation.

Letter is good but have a talk with her first just to let her know. It adds a personal touch.

When you talk to her tell her that your parents are concerned with your school performance and want you to concentrate on that for a while. If she knows you personally and doesnt consider you the studying type then you quitting to improve your grades doesnt add up. Using your parents as a cructh in this situation works well as all kids should listen to their parents and school is much more important at this point of your life.

BTW I think references are overraTED. You could have a friend or relative be a ref for a future job. Going through the scrutiny of contacting an employees previous manager for a job that pays less than $8 an hour is unnecessary. Your future manager should be able to gather all the necessary info from you that she/he need at the time of the interview.

From my experience no one ever calls. All you have to do is give a number right.... just give em a trusted friends number . Considering they even call that number just have him/her say that yah you did a great job in sales or such.

Before storming out of the store, take control of the PA system and let everyone know how you really feel, the way you've always dreamed of doing.

"Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, you're cool, fuck you. I'm out."

You should start all conversations with "bitch!" from now on.

So telling them you're quitting would go like this

"Bitch! I have to invite you to kiss my big black ass, because I'm through Pimping out my childhood for 45 cents an hour. So watch me shake it on out the door, and realize what you lost by not paying me more, or offering me sexual favors. Recognize!"

yeah, thats how that should go.

You're totally welcome.

Walk in to the office, whip it out and piss right on the desk, also on the manager if possible.

When you finish, give it a good shake look the manager right in the eyes and say, "That's my two weeks notice. Do you need it in writing as well?".

This might have some negative effects on references from that manager, or...they may be glowing statements of how much they appreciated your thoughtfulness.

That may be true for most jobs, but if you ever take a job that requires a security clearance, depending on the level, they will check, and visit.

You know how hard it is to find somebody that new you in 6th grade when it is 25 years later?

I think its safe to assume tylerC will never have a job that requires a security clearance. And Im sure he can find a better reference if that were the case than a Walmart career employee

She pretty.
