Ive been really wanting to start my own internet radio channel, but costs and setting it up is really lame, so I was thinking about setting up a podcast. I dont know much at all about them really, so does anyone know of a good tutorial for setting one up? And is there anything I should know before doing so?

how are you necessarily wanting to set one up? do you konw a lot about rss feeds and .xmlurl==http://=http:///url pages? if so, it will be fairly easy..if not...we might have to work.

i have personally set up a few podcasts myself (not for myself), but would be willing to help you get started.

yea, i stopped. the new mic my parents bought is a piece of crap and has like static all over the place.

also, I got a new computer and haven't installed my cool edit pro 2... so yea, lazy.

i might start it back up again. i dunno

@mnx12

All you need is an audio recording program.. I'm sure you can get one of those. You need a host, or you can use www.ourmedia.org

For RSS feeds, use www.blogger.com and then go ahead and use www.feedburner.com to burn the feed.

That's it, then submit it to iTunes and you're golden. Of course, there's some setting up you have to do such as podcast description and whatnot. Also, make you're little album art (if you're going to) and host it before you submit the feed to iTunes.

Hey, quick question, what are the laws on playing music on podcasts?

You've got to get permission from the labels to play copyrighted material. Most indies dont usually care too much. Its the major labels who can be assholes.

Which part of the tutorial?

Stage 1
---------
Make the show (as a big wav sound file). Deals with recording audio and such. Do you need tutorial on this?

Stage 2
---------
Make those XML files, encode and all that. Or you need a tutorial on this?
