My new phone...

This used to be a thread about the treo 650 but that isn't a very good phone for verizon so I didn't get it.

Just orderd off verizonwireless.com should get it tomorrow. My main reasons for getting it over the treo...

1.)The internet uses WAP instead of data (or whatever its called) Witch is WAY cheaper or free if done right.

2.)Verizon just isn't a good carrier for treo phones. To the best of my knowledge theres no way to get free or cheap data like you can with T-Mobile and a few otheres.

3.) After playing around with bolth phones at the verizon store yesterday I just plan like the layout of the vx9800 more than the treo. Plus the keyboard atleast IMO is better, theres just the right abount of spaces between each key to make it easily useable.

I plan on "enabling" it for free WAP but dose anyone know of anyother good modifications for this phone?

You have to buy Verizon's data plan, which costs upwards of $50 a month regardless of usage (itt'l cost you literally THOUSANDS if you don't buy it - no store will sell you a treo without a data plan)

Even if you've got wifi, you've still got to pay ontop of your origional service. Sorry (

Really? Dammit, I was planning on buying the phone on ebay though.

There is a Treo 700 on OC's Mobilephones4free.com (either that or $600 cash)

ok my sister has this phone and she is actually gonna sell it on ebay she just switched carriers so it does her no good its only about 3 or 4 months old if you wanna buy it give me a offer and ill ask her if thats good enough the phone is in perfect condition and i can prolle get her to throw in the car charger. but on a side note this phone is not nearly as good as the treo 650 or the 700. Whats really great about the treo is all the programs that you can put on the phone ( look around on some treo forums). I would seriously think about the treo over any other phone imo.

Will do. Although I suggest you go into a Verizon store and play around with it. Its alittle big but over all its awsome. Best phone I have ever seen/used (yes this dose include the treos) for text/IM/email. Internet is good with it but the browser is pretty bad usable but for surfing the web the treo has it beat. That said your not useing your phone to go online for hours at a time so I think you can live with the olny so-so browser.And with WAP being so much cheaper than PDA phone data plans and even hack able to be free. its well worth it. I've messed around with one for about half an hour so I can't go into to much detail but once i get it I'll do my best to review it.

I have Verizon and I still plan on getting either the Treo 650 or a Blackberry. I just don't want to pay for the service upgrade in order to use the internet which is like $40 bucks extra a month. Verizon is already expensive and that would put my bill at about $100 bucks a month. Although I could get the Treo and just use the organizer, contacts, and other stuff until I decide to activate the internet. I will probably just wait though...

Yeah thats the problem I had to. $40 more per month for internet and email for fucks sake cox's high speed is what $20 a month?

Well I now have the phone and fully online with wap. After owning this phone for about 10 hours all I can say is that its awsome. The keyboard is perfect for web browsing, Email, Texting..etc If theres anyone out there thinking about buying it go for it. You wont be sorry.

For my WAP connection I went with hopke(link to there site[=http//hopke.net/proxy/proxyhome.php]link to there site)there not totally free but $2 per month or $12 per year (includes unlimited data) is still [b3f8c5cd314]WAY[/b3f8c5cd314] better than verizons $5 per month with a 1MB data max. There also faster and allow you to use there hompage witch is much nicer than verizons.


The olny disappointment is that FiPG looks like hell atleast the forums do anyway. I wanted to post this from the phone but it was just to fucked up looking. I'll try see what I can do but since the browser is HTML olny it looks pretty bad on the phone. +10karma if you can make a WAP version of FiPG lol

download opera mini webbrowser for your phone. on your phone go to http//mini.opera.com . it works so much better than the standard browser.

How do i find out if it will work on my phone?

it works on most phones. when you go to that link on your phone, it will give you a download link. i have a much crappier phone than you and it works so I am almost positive it will work on yours.

I'm pretty sure its Verizon. For a phone thats pretty much built for surfing the web they really could have used a better browser. Although all of my web based email load up perfect (since there html olny) If olny they offerd a Java browser this phone would be perfect.

Actually I kind of take back what I said about not being abile to use FiPG from the phones browser. It isn't very easy to use but after makeing a couple of posts from it i'm starting to get used to it.
