hey, so i got a new HP Photosmart 8250 (8200 series; [b0d94276454]MAC COMPATIBLE[/b0d94276454])...and hook it up via USB to my dell. I have it shared on the network and I can print from any PC in my house that's on the wired network.

Now I have a Powerbook (10.4.4) that connects to the network wirelessly (via airport; only computer in the house that connects wirelessly).
I've loaded the HP software onto the mac, but i can't print. When I print, I get a page with about 2 lines of code on it - not gibberish, but actually readable stuff like
[code10d94276454]%!PS-Adobe-3.0 (spaces) %RBINumCopies: 1 (spaces) %%Pages: atend (spaces) %APL_DSC_Encoding: UTF8[/code10d94276454]
...and the rest of the page is blank.

I'm thinking that I just need to find a correct driver to print over my wireless network, since the printer isn't hooked directly up to my Powerbook. Maybe when they say Mac compatible, they mean that its only compatible if the printer is directly attached to the Mac? (seems pointless to me)
...anyone?? please cry

Find MAC drivers for the printer and install them, then try again. If that doesn't work, then someone else will have to help you because my MAC knowledge isn't great.

i know that for wireless sharing or w/e of printers Apple uses Bonjour
I suggest going to Apple.com and then go to Support and go to Discussions and look for it and ask
Professionals will be able to help you from there
good luck

That text you're seeing is Postscript. That HP printer doesn't speak Postscript, it speaks PCL3. See if your MAC has a PCL driver instead of a PS driver, or if there is an option to switch to PCL.
I'd say your connection to the printer is good because you actually got the PS datastream to print out on the printer, and from you posted it looks good (i.e. not garbled). This looks like a driver issue, not a network issue.

you're mac should come with a driver, but you can always search on the net.
but yea, that happened to me with my HP Laserjet1100 but the problem was HP didn't make mac drivers for that printer model, so I had to install 3rd party drivers and it worked fine.

I'd love to know the answer to this. My GF has a MAC and I'm soley a PC based network - but she'd love to print to my laser printer from the couch.

My all of my PCs have MACs. And all of my Macs have MACs. Heck, even my router and access points have MACs.
I guess I'm just confused.
