I'm trying to move a file from a shared folder on a Windows XP machine to a Mac running Tiger.
The Mac sees the folder perfectly, but when I drag the file, I get the following error message
"The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
The weird part? I can drag other files from that same Windows shared folder to my Mac desktop with no problem. Some files move, some don't.
I've been working in networking for 3 years, but due to my inexperience with Macs, I'm stuck on this one. I know all my permissions are set correctly for that Windows folder and I've tried rebooting both machines.
Before anyone tries to be a wiseass, yes, I did Google this but haven't found anything.

Google it, bitch!!
just kidding.
Did you set everything correctly in the Sys Prefs on your mac?
I haven't been using macs or anything for too long, but you have to make sure file-sharing is turned on in the System Prefs area (which it sounds like it is.. but double check?)
other than that, i have no clue.
www.apple.com/support <-- you can try there or

Yeah, I checked the System Preferences already, even though I am able to move other files.
It's weird, but I get the feeling it has something to do with file dates. It seems I can move older files, but new files that have been recently added to my shared folder don't move.
Or maybe I'm just psychotic...

Yeah, that'll work, but the whole point is that I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my network settings...

Doesn't seem like any of the other people are chiming in, and I really couldn't tell you. Like I said previously, I suggest www.pronetworks.org or www.apple.com/support

It's a well known fact that 99% of computer problem are related to the monitor not being turned on.
Try it. I bet it works.

Select the file in OS X and hit apple-i and view the permissions. Do it with the files that work and with the files that don't work.

Under the "Ownership & Permissions" section, I get "You can read and write" for all files in my shared Windows folder, whether I can move them or not.
