I discovered this thing called Ruckus, which is free unlimited music downloads.......However, they say that iPods don't support subscription music services like Ruckus. Ruckus to Go will not work for your Apple iPod. Many audio players do, such as the iRiver H10. Is there anyway to like hack the music files so they'll play on the iPod?
-Sorry for asking so many questions in the Off Topic forum in one day ?

Ehh. Subscription based drm is a pretty touchy topic, I don't think anyone has discovered some method to completely strip the files but I know theres some sort of automation for just listening through your audiocard and recording it to an unprotected mp3 file.
I'll try to dig it up.

Yep. Your best bet is to record it through your soundcard - no links for you at the moment, though. Sorry.

y dont u just use torrents like everyone else does? those work fine on ipods
stripping the files of the encryption is going to be very hard and its probabaly not worth the work to record them with sound card.

Tunebite is a pretty good program to record songs off your sound card, you should look it up if thats the route you decide to take.

itunes music only works for ipods because apple uses own format for music all u have to do is convert to mp3's from the M4a i think is apple format. a lot of programs out there do this. apple markets themselves as an MP3 but the players dont even use mp3 they use m4a itunes format. but thats besides the fact.

faster download speeds using Ruckus......
I got TuneBite off TorrentSpy so I got the full version, only problem is it requires each song to be played so it can record it into an MP3 format..... I have 415 songs that need to be converted.....It's going to take so fricken long...at lest 20 hours.....but I suppose it's worth it for the 400 songs I'll be getting for free o +KMA when I can to whoever suggested it

Thats really the only way to do it - theres no way to process a conversion without playing the song all the way through.

If you stay with iTunes 5 (don't update to iTunes 6) you can use jhymn to strip the DRM. That's what I do (actually, I leave them DRM'd for my iPod, but I strip them to play on my Linux media server). iTune 6 changed the key algorithm and jhymn hasn't been updated yet to work with it. The problem is once you update to v6, you can't go back to v5, but can create a new iTunes account under v5. And you can't DL video with v5 either, but since I don't have a video iPod yet, I stay with v5 to keep jhymn working.
Otherwise you can either burn your iTunes songs to CD then re-rip, or record from your soundcard as you play them. Either way results in a loss in sound quality compared to jhymn, though.

I just wish I had never upgraded iTunes. I was a dedicated jHymn fan but now all I can do is sit and wait for them to release a new version (
