Anyone know of a good MP3 renamer, to rename all your MP3 files so you don't have names like "!#keith_urban-when_the_sun_goes_down_DarkForce+torrents", and you can easily rename them all to decent formats.....

looking for something that's free, or something that cost money but there's a crack availble....

I googled, and have googled, and never found anything free that's decent....

I love the MusicBrainz utilities myself. It not only handle renaming, but fixes all those bogus and broken ID3 tags by downloading track info from a user-contributed database (the MusicBrainz database). Kinda like Gracenotes for CD's, except this works for MP3's. I had a very high success rate with a random collection of a couple hundred MP3's that had a lot of bogus, inconsistent, or incomplete ID3 info. It identified and automatically corrected about 98% on the first try, the few remaining I was able to drill into a list of possible matches and complete manually, so end result was 100% success.

I was about to make the same thread.

I used something called MusicBrainz not long ago but it's really slow (at least for me) but it does do the job.

I was hoping for something a bit faster. I heard MP3 TagStudio is supposed to be good so I'm giving that a try now.

Haven't tried the Beta. And I don't remember the version I used being named Picard at all, so maybe that's new. It used to be called "MusicBrainz Tagger." Probably the same app with a new name.

Can MP3Tag identify tracks if their filename and ID3 tags are screwed up? MusicBrainz uses hashes of each track to help identify them in the database, and it's pretty accurate. At the time (about a year ago) I could find no other tagging utility that could fix tags virtually unassisted. And it ran plenty fast for me...

So with musicbrain i just open the folder with all my music and it automattically will fix them?

I see the number of tracks going down and a lot of them moving to unclustered folder

Thanks Gratis.

I've used a couple MP3 taggers in the past, but in my opinion, none are as intuitive as [bf71c699b5a]ID3-TagIT[/bf71c699b5a][=http//id3-tagit.pluemper.name][bf71c699b5a]ID3-TagIT[/bf71c699b5a]. I'm not sure how it stacks up to other editors in regards to speed, but it gets the job done quickly; albeit, you have to enter all the information manually.

I've used it to add track info, genre(s) and album art to my MP3s. I reference allmusic.com for the data as freedb.org can be incorrect sometimes.

Yes, it sounds tedious, but I'm anal about having properly tagged MP3s oops
