Anyone catch the "Return of Chef" episode wednesday night? I though it was a pretty clever way to vent on scientology indirectly, while still maintaining their appreciation for Chef as a character. Wondering what everyone else thought

It was great. Definitely a good end to the chef character.

I agree, it was pretty damn good. The only thing is I wonder what they will do with Chef Vader. Although it was funny, it doesn't seem to fit well. And that fact that they used old chef clips for his voice was, IMO, genius. I am glad that they still ended it with him (Isaac Hayes) on a good note but he is crazy for just now saying that what they do is wrong after the "Trapped in the Closet" episode. Just because they make fun of something that is based on Sci-Fi and he believes in is dumb...but to each his own. Have you guys read the crazy things that have resulted from the "Trapped in the Closet" episode?

the underlying context was definitely genius. I loved how they did his voice with a sound board basically too. that was a great way to handle it.

They took a good jab at Isaac Hayes for leaving.

"It's not chef's fault. It's that club's fault for scrambling his brains!"

Ya I agree. I thought it was pretty low class move even though I don't believe in scientology.

Having Chef mutilated like that was a little disturbing. Granted he wasn't coming back to the show they still could've just let him leave. I think they went a little overboard in getting rid of the character. At some point you can't keep taking up personal battles as a premise for your show.

Thats what Micheal Moore does. I truly like Stone and Parker's messages (from other show) however but i think they should refrain from taking on personal battles.

I know I'd be a little bit pissed if I was Issac Hayes.

I think Scientology is a high society cult and they should make fun of it. If Scientologists were in the backwoods of Alabama the ATF would've raided them a long time ago and shut them down. If they are so ashamed in what they believe in, they should maybe think about that before they sign there lives over to the "church". If you want to learn about Christianity, Judaism, Islam, there are plenty of places to find that information and the followers are proud to talk about their beliefs. Scientologists make you basically sell your soul and give all your money to learn about their "church" and if you talk about it bad they'll sue you. Its garbage. If Isaac Hayes really does believe in Scientology then I'm glad he's gone because I don't want to watch (listen) to anyone that believes in that crap...

Robot Chef's voice sounded like James Earl Jones.

absolutely brilliant

I heard about the stroke thing, and it seems like too much of a conspiracy theory that someone else pulled him out. Its more likely that he was coerced by the puppet masters of Scientology to make a moral stance against it. Because if you remember, he had originally said that the episode didn't bother him. Then all of a sudden, a change of heart. A little suspicious, especially considering the actions Tom Cruise took against the Trapped in the Closet episode.

Who else here wishes Tom Cruise was dead?

His threatening not to promote MI3 as a way to force Viacom to get CC to pull that episode isn't just blackmail, it's a galling ego trip that should've had the suits laughing in his face. The fact they submitted to him is stunning. It sets a precedent they wiill soon regret.

The Hayes thing is nothing compared to this. If anyone has a brain they won't see MI3, except for torrents. )

isaac lives across the street from me. FIrst of all he did have a stroke, i did see him come home lookin all messed up, and he had a lot of family at his place. I haven't asked him about quitting south park, and i feel bad because they totally owned his character. But he is a pretty cool guy.
