What do u guys think is the best show on TV.

I would have to go with LOST.
and then maybe the OC. (call me a pussy, but one day you will believe).

Are you a 17 year old girl by any chance?

I'd have to say 24 and Lost.

The ratings aren't that good and FOX refuses to support it. Truth is, its a very expensive show to make or maybe they'd keep it on. As of right now the last 4 episodes this year were the last ever...

For some good British/weird comedy, try to find Shooting Stars, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, I'm Alan Partridge/Knowing Me Knowing You, Big Train, Jam, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python and Brass Eye. The latter was very controversial, especially when they aired a show about paedophilia.

actually it most likely is

I've been reading in the paper that Showtime is ready and waiting to sign it, the thing is that FOX hasn't released it yet, because they might bring it back also. This is all assuming the creators and cast is back on board, but things look good for it.

Don't watch very much tv.

I was just abot to ask; Seinfeld; Why?

I just don't get it.

Whose Line Is It Anyway I love. I used to watch the British one years ago then I came here and watched your version. It's the same, with basically the same people but with Drew Carey as the host. That's it's only downfall.

I really don't see the big deal about Drew Carey. Whenever I see him or watch his show I'm always left asking myself

1.) Why am I watching this, and
2.) Are his eyes open or closed? Open!, No closed! Open! Closed! Which one is it?

Prison Break gets my vote.

[quote752cdb404a="darkscout"]Stargate SG-1

Hollowed are the Orai.[/quote752cdb404a]

Both Stargates are pretty sweet, I've seen every episode of them both. I wouldn't call them the best shows on TV though. Stargate SG-1 isn't nearly as good as it was up to season 6. The writers seem to be running out of episode ideas and recycling old ideas with just a minor twist or two.
They still haven't done enough with storylines involving the Furlings and the Aschen so if the writers are smart enough they'll do a few episodes next season.
Atlantis is great, I don't have much complaint. Every Genii episode I have seen has been brilliant. Wraith episodes are typically good, but sometimes can be cheesy and/or boring (The episode about the wraith girl who gets raised by a human). The Michael storyline has been brilliant so far.

I have to admit... the first season was better.

One week, my cousin, sis, and I traded dvds... and I saw 1st and 2nd season Niptuck and 1st season Lost.... and of course they got to see my 1st season Desperate Housewives. We all agreed 1st season Desperate Housewives was the best out of those 4 sets. I'm also about to start on season 1-5 on Oz.. since I have blockbuster online now.

I rather Laguna Beach over OC. At least it's real... well as real as a reality show can get.

theysayjump

24-03-2006 20:35:59

I was never sure if Laguna Beach was real or not. It looks real but too many things that happened in it were either staged or just a bit too coincidental for me. Like things the cameraman would catch etc.

I mean............when my wife watched it, and I was in the background lifting heavy objects and fixing things......because I'm a man.......somebody's going to correct that last part.

Tholek

18-04-2007 13:41:49

I'm gonna take a step back and echo the vote for Battlestar Galactica.

Not that it trumps Dr Who, but I had greatly underestimated how good the new series is. I had only seen the mini-series, and caught an ep or two a few years back, and for some reason it didn't leave so great an impression on me. Maybe it was that it was just another Canadian sci-fi series, or that I thought they couldn't add to the original. I must've been drunk. Olmos' performance is enough reason to watch. He's great.

I've only just gotten into season two so far, but I've read the synopses of everything up to Crossroads and I'm looking forward to them. I'm just glad I'll be seeing season 4 as it comes, rather than catching it all in case that's the last.

Battlestar Galactica started out awesome, but season 3 was terrible. It's basically only worth watching now to see who has a moustache, who is fat, how dumb Helo is, and to see random shots filmed where I go to school.

Married With Children is SO underrated that it's a sin. That show was so good, for the fact that you could laugh with, and [i8e59bb3536]at[/i8e59bb3536], the characters. I think people on death row could watch that show and be glad they weren't a Bundy. ;)

[quote8e59bb3536="JennyWren"]Battlestar Galactica started out awesome, but season 3 was terrible. It's basically only worth watching now to see who has a moustache, who is fat, how dumb Helo is, and to see random shots filmed where I go to school.[/quote8e59bb3536]

Thanks for bumming me out...

I've read more positive reviews elsewhere, but the fact Moore put the idea out there that season 4 was gonna be the last bugged me. Yeah, you can say you wanna go out on a high, but it can be indicative of negative things too. I still hold out hope though....at least until I'm into season 3.

Helo...ugh. roll

I'm still liking BG (watching Rapture now, only a few eps left), but Lucy Lawless was a bad choice. She's not a bad actress, and it not that I feel it's Xena in space, she's just wrong. I know I'd feel that way if I had never seen her before.

The threeway scenes (implied) were a nice touch though...

Finished. I still like it, although how many times can Lee defy his dad and still keep his job? D

I'm watching the old BSG right now on Ion. I really thought it was much worse than it is. Pretty good for when it was made.

So has anyone mentioned Doctor Who?

There is another BBC show called Hustle (Hu$tle) that is fantastic. Each episode is 4 people running a Hustle on rich folk. Its an awesome show, one of my favorites...

I don't know where I've been to have missed what seems to be a great show. I've never even heard of prisonbreak, when is/was it on?

As far as shows go
CSI
Law and OrderCI (with Vincent D'Onofrio), SVU
Til Death
Boston Legal
House
and shoot me now but I liked Beauty and the Geek when it was on

Doctor Who is my favorite right now. I'm mad at Battlestar Galactica - why do all US/Canadian scifi shows have to end the stupid season with cliffhangers. It started with Star Trek TNG. I know its a trick to make sure we come back next year, but honestly by the time the new season starts their lucky if I even remember the cliff hanger let alone still care.

Fortunately, Doctor Who doesn't do that. I really enjoyed Torchwood as well and am happy they will have another season in 2008.

And it died before its time, but I want to make sure that Firefly gets mentioned in this thread.

Also, all the Law and Orders (Laws and Orders?) with SVU being my favorite of the three.

Heh, either you have a short memory, or you never saw the original Doctor Who. Star Trek didn't start that. Honestly, I think Flash Gordon did. Every [i5107988f73]episode[/i5107988f73] had a cliffhanger, because it was a [i5107988f73]serial[/i5107988f73], not a series. The same was true of Doctor Who. It was a serial. [i5107988f73]Now[/i5107988f73] it's a series. Back in the day, stories could go as long as 12-14 episodes. (IIRC) That was one of the defining aspects of it.

As for [i5107988f73]series[/i5107988f73] cliffhangers, even now DW does it, and BG [i5107988f73]had[/i5107988f73] to do it, because they never have renewal written in stone. NBC doesn't even get on well with Ron Moore these days, so it's not surprising they use this tactic, and I don't blame them. (I'm stoked for the next season anyhow)

Hate to say it, but I'm not into Torchwood. It just doesn't hold my attention. Not with so few girl-girl kisses, anyhow. ;)

I have to admit, my experience with the older Dr Who episodes have been Saturday night on PBS doing a 2-4 hour marathon so there was no cliffhangers there, just an entire story. I don't mind weekly cliffhangers, just "oh no we're going to die. See you in 6-9 months."

The newer Dr Who hasn't done that (yes we wondered what the bride was doing in the Tardis, but it was just a transition between stories).

I watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and MXC to get my laugh on. House, and The Ultimate Fighter for whatever else.

True. The older series was originally shown in serial form though. We're just lucky to see it years later en masse. I'd hate to have been a UK fan in the 70s. ;)
