Has anybody tried it?

I installed it, and see a somewhat of a difference.

I tried it.

I vaguely recall it fucking up my experience with a good number of the sites I visit regularly. Some of them even displayed warnings not to use it.

It has a troubled history. Just do a search on...Google and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah I remember people not liking this for reasons it invades your privacy?

It actually increases the bandwidth usage on the sites you visit, which is a negative effect for them.

ALSO, on FiPG for some reason it always stuck in the cached version and I could never tell what topics were new.

Hmm ok. I disabled it.

Google Desktop is the one with the privacy issues...

But that is if you allow it to do the search thing right?

Yea, but only if you allow the GDesktop to store your files on their server.

But even then, I wouldn't worry about anything unless the Supreme Court or something Subpoena's google for your files.

Evenso, I would never allow my personal files to be broadcasted all over the net (or at least on anyones' but my own servers)

Yeah I'm not saying Google would do anything but if my files are on a server, who knows who could hack in or tap in as they are being transfered. I'm paranoid I guess shrug

same here. can never be safe enough.

As much as I like Google, I don't trust them enough with my files.

i think it is decent

i've used it for quite a while and it helps me a ton of going to heavily flash based sites

however it does screw around with some sites but overall not really

for some reason i think that your internet becomes really dependent on it. Maybe i'm wrong but it always seems that my internet is so much slower without it. I don't remember it being that slow when i didn't have web accelerator but who knows

i'd prolly recommend it though

however just as a caution if you just can't seem to log in to certain places or do certain things then just turn it off and see if it works and you'll know the source of your problem

^^I didn't know this for about 3 months and it really flililied me up with one of my web sites and I had to figure it out on my own

I've been using it since it first came out. Right now I've saved 3.6 hours.
