any 802.11g router would be fine. you'd have to check the manufacturer's website or your manual to see if your comuter has wireless built-in, but you could always buy a usb dongle or a pcmcia card to give it that capability. the psp has wifi built in so you'd just need the router and set it up to allow connections. check places like bens bargains or slickdeals, you can usually get a wireless router and 4-port switch combo for under $20.

do you think this is a good deal

or should i buy other routers not linksys or other models?

if you're looking for something to use with your laptop (if it doesn't have it built in) this might be better;

there are often free after rebate, or nearly so, offers around. I got a usb modem/router, a usb adapter for my desktop and a pcmcia card for my wifes laptop and was paid $40 to get it. this was last year. check www.fatwallet.com for good deals )

i blame history

dont even begin to think you have to pay extra for wireless. if you can buy a wireless router, you can use it. every ISP tries to say you have to pay extra and go through them. my family did it with roadrunner, and my boyfriends familly has earthlink. i think for earthlink we got a belkin G router, and it works perfectly.

I paid $35 for my router. Works like a champ.

is it better have router and modem separate or buy one together?

I bought mine seperately, but I needed a card for my desktop at the time.

Separate. In case you move, go to DSL, etc

Don't get any of that Speedbooster crap.

This is my WAP
http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124012

and this is my router

If you are looking for a router and WAP I'd go with this

None of that speed boosting, SRX, or any of that crap works. They did real world tests at PCWorld and they weren't very impressive. Not worth the $$$...

CNET is garbage IMO. They never are very accurate.

This article talks about SRX and I guess its better than Speedbooster but still isn't worth the money IMO. I'll wait until 802.11n comes around...
