Thank TSJ for the clever subject title. shock lol

Anyway, I'm really talking about Macromedia Flash. I was hired by my friends company to redesign their websites. They don't want super awesome visual miracle type of stuff, but they want something decent looking. It shouldn't be too much work. She mainly started talking about HTML which I'm pretty good at, and designing with pretty colors. However, they started talking about Flash. I know some basics of it as I've used it for simple things. I just need a refresh of some stuff.

Basically what I'm asking for is for anyone who knows it pretty well who can teach me a tip or two. I visit www.flash-kit.com for tutorials, but some are not as helpful as talking to someone one-on-one.

If anyone can teach me some good stuff, I'll award them +KMA and depending if I'm able to do a specific site, a free green. Or maybe +KMA and a free green. shrug

Here are some examples

See how the girl comes in from the left, and the flower loads from the background. That's neat.

At the beginning of that website's animation, there is a pink strip that appears. I'd like to do something like that as they have a Hello Kitty on a surfboard and I'd like her riding it until she stops, and the menu loads somewhere on the page.

Stuff like that!

So you want a hellokitty load bar and an animation that is just that....an animation. Well no one can help you with htat animation except for doing it for you, but a load bar is a fairly simple flash function. Flashkit has plenty of tutorials on how to do that!

Wrong. Like in the second example with the pink strip that appears, I'd like the Hello Kitty logo to be riding a wave just like the pink strip comes in. I can figure out how to do an animation bar, I know that.

Well describe stuff better. I know a lot of flash so maybe a better description would help me help you. But, I am guessing you don't need it!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I'd like to talk to someone without an attitude and some sort of patience. Thanks anyway.

Oh I forgot to mention I was going to help you for free not a stupid green, but the real question here is why you can't read and learn flash like the rest of us.

For the sake of you not having an overload, and for others to know exactly what I'm talking about, here it is

I've read tutorials which is how I've learned some of the basics of Flash. Like making buttons, tween animation, keyframes, what frames do, some actionscripting, etc. I have a fair understanding of what they are and how to go about messing with them.

However, there are some "tricks" and [b895f650868]effects[/b895f650868] that I have not been able to find a tutorial for or figure out how to do.

I'd just like to learn some effects so that I can put them together with other effects. Like that girl came in from the first example site, how she loaded from withtin those leafs, and so on. How to make that pink stripe animate and come out of the side, because I'd like to have a wave instead of a pink stripe and have the Hello Kitty riding it as if it was a wave.

Jesus, that arguing is helping, keep trying that. No, I'm kidding. Those two examples are way out of my league, the only thing I can tell you from what I learned in class is that one way you could have the girl come in from the side like that is a motion tween maybe?

yup it appears that that girl is a motion tween along with a mask.

Yeah, I understand the tween park. That's pretty simple, but the masking is kinda pfft. Know of a good tutorial that's decent in explenation? I tried Flashkit and KnowFlash.com.

masking is a fiarly simple operation. ummm to learn about it I believe on special effects on flashkit there is a tutorial that teaches about making words shine or light going across words or something like that. The basic idea of it is a tween. I am too lazy to look through flashkit, but when I have seen it there.

I think I saw that one, but thought it would be different for using it with actual images instead of text. Speaking of importing images, how do you go about doing it for yours? What I usually do is work on an image in Photoshop and use the "Import" function. Then, I make the canvas of the flash file the same size as the image I imported and start to work using new layers.

If I need to import an image I either copy and paste or use the import function. I can usually edit out the background if it isn't a clear one. Oh and masking is masking. It is no different for text or pictures. In fact the picture in what you want is not even the same part as the text in the tutorial

Got it. And what do you think about the same website example with the girl but with the blue flower loading behind her?

I would use a mask that starts out as a tiny circle and grows...it will appear as if the flower is growing out like that website did it.

So basicly what I need to do is just mess with masks and it will give it that effect, correct? Is it the same for the first website where the girls are loading with the bars moving from side to side?
