anyone planning on seeing it? i just found out its playing near me tonight at 10 pm, so i dont have to wait till tomorrow to see it. this movie takes precedence over my exam tomorrow and that pesky 7 page paper that still needs to be started ;)
Yeah, I am checking that out. One of my colleagues lent me the graphic novel and I loved it.

i need to check out the graphic novel. somehow, i had only heard of the movie for the first time while i was watching superbowl commercials. i must say i thought it was the best ad of the night D
unfortunately, the dayton will not have an IMAX screen until late summer, and while i could go to cincinnati to see it there (as i did with charlie and the chocolate factory... mmm... 52 foot tall depp), i am unable to wait and i absolutely must see it tonight )

The movie confused me a little bit, I thought it was kinda boring as well. It didn't have as much action as I would have liked. It was okay I guess, better than She's the Man.....Totally! ;)

I consider myself a conservative, and I didn't feel attacked by it in the least. Not sure why you would think that. The term "conservative" means different things to different people in different locations, and with me and all the conservatives I know, it certainly doesn't equate to fascism.
I thought it was a good movie, too. ;)

Yeah, I know. If you see my next post, you'll see I was talking about supporters of the current admin. (True conservatives not thrilled about the current admin, not the movie.) The novel, as you know, was written in the 80's when the author was a bit alarmed alarmed Thatcher. [I typed some stuff out here but deleted it since you'll see the movie.]

I would think liberals are being more attacked in this movie than conservatives. Conservatives are for smaller, less powerful government. I saw the movie, and I think it does a good job showing the dangers of totalitarianism. It also shows how much power the media has. I'll stop there, I don't feel like getting started with how liberal the media is in the US today.

Republicans used to be for less government but under Bush I'd say they haven't been less invasive. I'm a Republican but I hate Bush because he shits on all the core party beliefs. The Republicans party is dead, meet the Christian party...

I agree, Bush is not very conservative. He was picked because the Republican party needed more of a moderate to get the votes needed for election.
Wolfeman
20-03-2006 13:47:46
I think that people interchange conservative and Republican and liberal and Democrat. The whole Republican party has swung way to right wing. The difference in what Bush's Republicans are doing and what the base Democrat beliefs are is Democrats want big government for things like universal healthcare and welfare and stuff like that. Bush's administration whats to GPS and monitor every aspect of your life. Thats a different type of government. Its like we are slowing becoming a dictatorship.
I'm against either being too right or too left. I consider myself a liberal Republican which are pretty rare nowadays shrug

Again, it's not about conservatives, I'm talking about the current admin (I'm going to edit my post since I'm sick of repeating myself). They are certainly not for a smaller gov't with less power. I don't consider myself to be Democrat or Republican but I agree with what wolfeman says.

Just saw it yesterday. I expected it to be good, but it totally blew my mind. Its a deep and well represented as the graphic novel, and spoke to a new audience about how a government can so easily control a populous. Definately gonna go see it again in IMAX. theres too many flippin sweet quotes for just one viewing.

Just saw this movie. I agree, it kicks ass. It reminds of the novel 1984. A really good thriller. I noticed the screenplay was by the Wachowski bros. who did the Matrix. Oh, and the movie was dedicated to "Adrian Biddle".....Adrian is my first name wink Anyways, even though they had the audio volume at ear busting level, I hope it gets some awards.....it deserves them ) I can't wait to dress up as "V" for Halloween D

I loved it. There was some points where it seemed like it was critquing the current administration. Like with the color codes for terror alert and some other things that seemed like it could be.
But all in all it could have been a ton better if they just edited some parts.
SPOILERS
The part when she gets out of the prison and basically goes NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO like darth vader.
The blood was ridiculus in the "knife time" scenes.
I did not like how they made the main character use a lot of "big" words to sound like he is educated in the opening scene. It was OK.
The fire scene flashbacks where borderline ridiculus.
There was a turning point of goodness in the film after the scene where the girl got out of the "jail".
And some other little things I can't remeber right now. But all in all the movie was fantastic and definately bolstered my faith in the wachoskie(sp) brothers and I am looking forward to a new movie by them.

The bad thing about that is this movie came out right after the awards so dont expect anything big because its usually the movies that come out right before the awards that score big.
