Howard is Late Night tonight and I hear he goes off on CBS for like the whole show. Letterman kept him on for all 3 segments which he never does. I'm interested to hear what he has to say and wanted to give a heads up to any other Howard fans...

Ha this should be interesting. Thanks for the info

I did not really liked what he did on the Daily Show. He talked bad about comedy central which is fine but I don't think he should of said some of the things relating to Jon Stewart like he did.

I can't wait for a real portable Sirius receiver--one that doesn't require docking for live content.

well Sirius has the money now to build a new portable unit now, i am sure they are working on it rite now..

Kind of.

[quote758ffb9d08="PC Magazine"]It plays live channels only when connected to the Car Kit or Home Kit dock; when used as a portable, it relies on songs and radio programs recorded in its 1GB of internal flash memory.[/quote758ffb9d08]

That's why I said I can't wait for one that doesn't require docking for live content. So i can listen to new shows during my morning commute.

Meanwhile their competitor, XM, has not only had those types of receivers for awhile, but now have portables that receive live broadcasts [ib14f1b112e]and[/ib14f1b112e] play MP3's.

I can get the real thing (Stern) on Sirius though...

I'm just busting balls. I'm a Stern fan, but never really listened to O&A, so can't judge.

I've listened a little bit of an O&A, and they sound like the other Stern clones to me (and mind you, I listened to O&A before I ever listened to Stern).

tramahound

14-03-2006 07:50:36

I used to like O&A but not so much anymore. I prefer Stern, but like Ron & Fez a great deal.
as for XM having the true portable player that can get live content; yes, they do, but you need to attach a largh tampon-like antenna to your head to pull it in. once they both get that problem solved they'll have something.

I used to listen to Ron & Fez up until the radio station they were played on changed formats to shitty MTV rock. Any Don and Mike fans here?

tramahound

14-03-2006 10:50:33

I used to listen to don and mike when they were on 102.7 in nyc. they were ok until they started having that annoying actress on all the time. ugh

I just watched it too (dish vip622 hd dvr rulz!) man he truly is ugly especially in high def. the before pics Dave showed regarding his plastic surgery looked better i think. It was a good interview though. Dave was trying to stick it to him and break apart his logic. He kinda got him on the fridays off thing though...

Well remember Letterman had major issues with NBC before he left. They screwed him out of the Tonight Show...

tramahound

14-03-2006 18:31:50

then i'd think that would make him sympathetic to howard's cause. he knows how it feels. Dave at least gave him a lot of air time though. gotta love howard's 'i hate les moonves 2006 tour' shirt though. I just hope he's not digging himself a grave with these types of appearances before his court case though.

I used to listen to Stern too, but he steadily became less funny over time. He's just getting old like Imus. The last few times I tried listening again, it was just for Artie. He's the only funny one left. (

As for O&A, they still have what it takes. Still fresh.

[quote7f9e476476="Dr. Doom"]I've listened a little bit of an O&A, and they sound like the other Stern clones to me (and mind you, I listened to O&A before I ever listened to Stern).[/quote7f9e476476]

"little bit" says it all. I bet you missed a lot that would have you thinking differently. That "clones" line, so funny when I hear it. Everyone's a clone. lol

[quote7f9e476476="tramahound"]I used to like O&A but not so much anymore. I prefer Stern, but like Ron & Fez a great deal.

It's too bad you don't know about XM radios, or else you'd know that statement is [i7f9e476476]categorically[/i7f9e476476] untrue.

The portables that are out now recieve live signals [b7f9e476476]without[/b7f9e476476] the need of an external antenna in most areas. The first of those came with the antenna you speak of, but only for when the signal was being interfered with by large buildings and the like. They even have a better version of that "tampon" antenna now that is 10 times better if you are stuck in one of those zones. However, most have little need for them at all.

If you don't like O&A, then get XM for Ron & Fez. They're as great as ever, even moreso with Earl back on board.

[quote7f9e476476="nicd.01"]I used to listen to Ron & Fez up until the radio station they were played on changed formats to shitty MTV rock. Any Don and Mike fans here?[/quote7f9e476476]

Like I said, R&F are still great (On after O&A), but last I heard D&M, they were still on JFK. Are they still? I was only a mild fan of them though. Mike was OK.

[quote7f9e476476="tramahound"]I used to listen to don and mike when they were on 102.7 in nyc. they were ok until they started having that annoying actress on all the time. ugh[/quote7f9e476476]

Yeah, Leah Remini. No clue as why she was on all the time. They still do that too? I'd be surprised if she hasn't tried to convert them to scientology already. D

If that's the case then cool. XM certainly has more radios and portables. And, as much as I love R&F I can't see spending $13 a month for them alone.

Yeah, that's the case, and those aren't even the [i1930415940]new[/i1930415940] second generation models[=http//forum.freeipodguide.com/viewtopic.php?p=337234#337234][i1930415940]new[/i1930415940] second generation models I mentioned to Keith. The 2G ones are amazing, and they are out before Sirius has even their [i1930415940]first[/i1930415940] generation live portable. shock

As for the $13, there's O&A, and tons of other channels. It's hard to stick to one channel when there's a lot of other great stuff you miss in the process.

Or you could save your cash and just listen online. ;)

Stern has the [i9309f846b5]same[/i9309f846b5] kind of people. There are people who go "too far" on both sides. You can listen to O&A for free via that trial I mentioned before, but I think Stern had his feed cut from Sirius' free trial.

Who in their right mind is gonna plop down cash for a subscription radio, without listening first? At least XM understands that.

Agreed. There are some kooks out there.

As for people having heard Stern, some stopped listening to Stern [id16d212d8b]years[/id16d212d8b] ago when he was at his peak. With all the new publicity he's gotten, you know they'd want to know if he's still good. In my opnion he isn't, but he should at least allow prospective subscribers to decide that before buying hardware.

Hate them or not, O&A sure know how to throw a party. I was just at their St Pat's one, and I can't remember the last time I saw so many women flashing short of Mardi Gras. )
