yea, i suppose if you aren't using priority mail it's cheaper than buying your boxes.
However, I wouldn't do it only because it's against federal law or something, and the person you send it to, might just be cranky and report you or something like that..

I work for a company that does alot of shipping. We will occasionally grab a box and turn it inside out to cover old stickers etc when we are shipping back to manufacturers or other non customers. It's not to save on shipping, it reduces the garbage overhead. We get a ton of boxes in so why not ship some back out.

It DOES save on shipping cost, but if you ship via USPS with a Priority box turned inside out you run the risk of getting F'd in the A (it is a federal offense to use the priority boxes for anything other than their intended [Priority Shipping] use). That said...a few years ago I used a bunch of Priority boxes during a move, and turned one inside out last month to ship an iPod ;) Usually I have all sorts of boxes lying around, but after selling 30+ iPods I was pretty well cleaned out.

lol, what did u order.. It might have been me.
One time I used the boxes, and they charged me almost double what it would have costed, in a normal box. So I flip them inside out, unless its really heavy.
Guy at post office said, if they were to find out, they would send the shipment back..(He is kool, and wouldn't say anything)

I noticed that if you use a box that you get for free from usps (such as the priority boxes) that you can not turn them inside out and use them. If they (usps) catch you doing it, they either send the package back or charge you for the extra costs based on what the box was made to be used for. If you do need extra boxes for ebay, do what we do. Go to a few businesses around town and just ask them to save their boxes for you. If they are nice they will just save them, (or some are not allowed to do this for some strange reason).
OR just go dumpster diving (out back) and pick up the boxes that they are throwing out. Our basement is filled with boxes that our local company throws away. Then again, we have 100 shippments every month. shock

I guess most of you haven't seen the new priority boxes. They all have the USPS watermark pattern on the inside. There's no way to use them at all, except by wrapping them. (or using them for their original purpose).
If you still have the old ones that don' have that, then you're lucky, beacuse they caught on.
