I need some ideas. I've been creating a little bio site for myself at school for Internet Class and during the time that everyone has been working on it I've been on Firefox just learning and learning HTML more. I've done a little work though. I know how to do a lot of stuff I just need ideas.

Anyway, the site that I'm working on is hosted on YourFreeStuffGuide[=http//www.yourfreestuffguide.com]YourFreeStuffGuide which is gonna be a website that Crynos and I are gonna put our ref links on.

So I've made the navigation for the most part. On the home I put some crap in there to space it so you can see it more spaced out. I'll take it out later.

What should I do with it to keep it looking professional? I was thinking maybe I should have a blog style gray box on the right side of each page or something but I don't know what to put on the left.

So can any web designers on here or just design people like Veek give me some ideas? Constructive critisism is fine and it won't offend me.

Thanks guys. And here's the site again --->

I would recommend not using grey. Grey turns a website into a blob. It's hard to explain but from looking at a designer's point of view, grey doesn't make your eyes exciting.

Since it is a portfolio site, I would make it either white background or a black background with simple boxed layout design and alittle bit there and a little bit here.

I've been working on my personal portfolio site as well.

Nothing is on there except for the splash page P

Just a thought on splash pages.. One thing that I learned at my last job, which was a primarily web-based business, is that if the average user can't find what they want in 3 clicks or less, they're gone.

This is a rule of thumb for informational and e-commerce sites, so it's just something to think about.

Ya, I know what you mean. Most people are also annoyed by splash pages because of extra loading, etc.

I have splash page on mine because it is a designer's portfolio site. More stuff to show off.

I was thinking the same thing before I even came back to check the thread. I changed it before I came back. It's different now.

Now I can use white. I'm SO tired right now. Now I'm gonna have to make add some more crap in.

Alright I'm just gonna forget about div's or tables and I'm gonna use images. I'm exhausted. Do you guys like it though?
