Your take on the UFC, Pride etc.

I was just thinking about this randomly today. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have heard of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and others such as Pride Fighting. For those who don't know it's basically where two well trained mixed martial arts fighters go rounds in an octagon shaped ring.

But onto the point of this thread. I am a big fan of the UFC and most of it's fighters. In my personal opinion I feel like it is a real, true sport. I don't think it gets as much regconition as it could and should. Sure it is getting there thanks to SpikeTV, but still. In my opinion I should be able to read about who won and so on in a newspaper. I think it should be on SportsCenter on so on.

I mean it's not that crazy of thing, I'm not saying I'm not going to sleep at night if this doesn't happen. I'm just curious if anyone here agrees with me, or feel free to speak your mind.

I love MMA! I prefer Pride over the UFC. They allow kicks and knees to a downed opponent. And because my favorite fighter is over there....Wanderlei Silva! Chute Boxe, baby!!!

I haven't been able to watch as often as I used to do to work and stuff, but if I had to pick one I'd say Frank Mir although he's been MIA

The best thing I like about that kind of shite, is the fact that anyone, inculding kids are allowed to, or can easily watch it, yet a womans breast being exposed for mere seconds sends the country into an uproar.

I just don't get it. How can it be fun to watch two men kick the shit out of each other? To me it's sad, pointless and pathetic, but some people clearly would do anything to be on TV and/or for money.

It's not necessarily only two men beating the shit out of each other, depending on how you look at it. If that's the case you must say the same with boxing. Take two random citizens pay them to fight and thats two men beating the shit out of each other.

But MMA fighters are trained professionals, it's all about technique and who has more skill, who has trained better etc.

And I know Frank Mir got his ass kicked lol, but I still like him. I really like Forrest Griffin too, liked him even before he won TUF
