Someone have heard about this Microsoft new device call
Origami Project. On the forum origamiprojectforum.com
people write that Microsoft will lunch a new iPod’s
competitor on March 04. I’m not impress by the Origami
design, on the pictures it look more like a prototype
that a commercial product. What do you think about it?

Someone probably will eventually, but not immediately.
More info will come out tomorrow, but from what I've already seen, I'd sooner want a full laptop. This device isn't [ic967689e23]that[/ic967689e23] small. When you can get all those features in a handset, is when a laptop really becomes too cumbersome.

That video alone screams out "no camera", "no touchpad keyboard" and "no cellphone". Things that a device that size should have.

I think thats awesome, and don't forget; the video is of a prototype model. If those cost <$300 I would buy one without a doubt.

i decided to bring this up as opposed to start a new topic. i know thats frowned upon.
at first i laughed at the idea and i thought it looked stupid.. and while i still think it looks stupid... i am warming up to the idea more and more. yes, its big, but its small enough to stick in the large purse/bag/messenger bag/manpurses that many people carry around nowadays.
i just saw a report on CBS evening news about it, and i got to thinking... there are so many times where i am just sitting somewhere, and i have nothing to do. carrying my laptop around would be suicide, as i am the proud owner of a 2+ year old fossil of a computer which weighs about as much as your average four year old child (although i am pleased, it still works wonderfully... lipets computerli) anyways, having one of these.... things... would come in quite handy. sure, the $1,000 price tag CBS reported on is pretty much half of my checking account at the moment, and the drop to $500 in a year is still a months pay and enough to pay bills for a couple months, but i do think it would be nifty to have one of these.

The fact that video editing has become this good, means a LOT of criminal court cases are going to get very complicated. (

Ok I couldnt suffer though 4 minutes of that boring ass vid.
one question though. What the hell does it have to do with origami?
Origami The art of paper folding.
It did make me remember one of my favorite sites.

I'd rather have something small like a sidekick. that thing is just odd. why not just get a tablet pc? What benefit does it have over a tablet?

im kind of disappointed. i wanted the red and white model, since it has that nice keyboard. it may look funny, but that built in keyboard was nice. plus, it was a bit more aesthetically pleasing than what they have shown now. all it needed was to not be red and white.. heh.
anyways, i want an actual keyboard type item, built in to it... this on screen thing keyboard is just strange. plus, the looks of these current models remind me of very old portible game systems. sega game gear, neo geo pocket... atari lynx... there were quite a few horizontal rectangle-esque handheld game systems in the 90's, and this looks like one of them.

I still think its not a bad idea if you are on the move a lot and don't want a laptop. I heard the battery life blows roll

yeah, i read an article that said 2.5 to 3 hours, which is awful. my laptop lasts longer than that if i am not playing games or watching video clips.
i hope the battery life will be improved upon in later 'generations' of these things. something someone can take with them all day and have full use of.
there is a bunch of talk about future software packages to enable it to be used as a GPS device... as long as you are not going more than 3 hours away from home, all will be fine, i guess....?
