Is there some sort of a transaction that needs to take place with these 36 referrals between there bank accounts and there textpayme account in order for them to count as 1/36 or how does that work?

as long as the person is signed up, they will count as your referral. they don't need to do a transaction. however, to get your free $5, you do need to make a transaction.
