Is there a pool at FIPG for the NCAA Tournament?

Armstrong

23-02-2006 11:22:25

That is an awsome Idea. Is there a website that we can set up and account for FIG and then we could do a cash pool or something separately?

Armstrong

23-02-2006 11:24:56

If we get enough people together, I'll set this up on my webspace...

I hate to break this to you, but their record is 13-10. I don't think they'll qualify.

tylerc

23-02-2006 13:18:23

I think they will.

The Big 10 is the hardest conference in the country and they've had a hard schedule outside of that too.

Ok, I've set one up, its at poolhost.com and its free. how should we manage the entrance fee? and any other options let me know! I'll post the link as soon as we figure it out.

MyungChunHa

25-02-2006 15:20:48

i say let the entrance fee be about $10 per person and let a mod on this forum handle the money....that way it will guarantee no scamming...

yea im in too.....i agree with mcal44 only because the Big East is really the Big East and Conf USA from last year and there are like 29 teams(well 18 but you get the idea) and they all dont play eachother twice....the Big 10 just beats eachother up and cant win on the road...we will still have 3 in the elite 8 again

poolhost.com will manage our pool for free. someone can set it up there.

Wolfeman

28-02-2006 15:48:52

I say we go with a private yahoo one since most people have a yahoo account. CBS Sportsline is good too. What we need is a mod to handle the money. If everyone puts in $15.76 (the $0.76 is for the fees) then we can have decent prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd...

nitriv

28-02-2006 19:54:20

Good idea wolfeman, but we need someone to actually run things and get us set up so when the tourney starts we will be ready to go. We need someone to take control of the pool for everything besides the money. Can someone volunteer to run it? By taking on this role u need to set up the system and find out who will participate.

theysayjump

28-02-2006 20:05:58

Armstrong PM'ed me about handling the money and I said I'd have no problem but I did have a few questions here.

If someone wants to answer these I'll let you know if I'm in for being the money-man. Like I told Armstrong though I have no interest in the actual tournament itself.

What would it require? What methods of payment are being accepted? How many people are involved? How long will this last? How are the winners being selected?

pretty much it would require your paypal account and then pay the winners

# of people...it all depends....the tourney starts march 14th..so people will have until the 13th...or right b4 tip on the 14th to get their brackets in

it lasts until monday april 3rd

depending on what service is being used....most will calculate the leaders and winners on the home page for the league

[b09d9c867a6]How are the winners being selected?[/b09d9c867a6]

The winner(s) are the people who get the most points.
It's very clear who that is once its all over.

i think Neteller should be offered lol

Wolfeman

28-02-2006 20:45:33

When they pay you TSJ, you can give them the password to the league and the info. The winners are easy to tell. We need to decide on how much we want enterance fee to be and how much we want 1, 2, 3 place to get...

tylerc

28-02-2006 20:47:27

I think Amazon should be considered.

Wolfeman

28-02-2006 20:56:05

I think PayPal is easiest and I know TSJ has it...

Wolfeman

28-02-2006 21:10:37

We also need to decide who will setup the league since TSJ is just going to be the banker...

Wolfeman

01-03-2006 22:22:26

I guess since I'm a mod now and I'll be involved I can run it and take care of the money. Lets do this.

I want to use CBS Sportsline since you can customize scoring. I say 1 pt. 1st round correct, 2 pts. 2nd, 4 pts. Sweet 16, 8 pts. Elite 8, 16 pts. Final Four, 32 pts. Champion with total score in the championship being the tie breaker. $15 + PayPal fees entry and we pay 60% 1st place, 25% 2nd place, 15% 3rd place.

[quotef6cc9d1a2f="cdcoit1384"]I'm in just tell us what to do...oh and how much are paypal fees. Also, can we enter more than one bracket?[/quotef6cc9d1a2f]
I believe it's a total of $15.76 that you have to send, Wolfeman wrote it somewhere around here.....and I don't think we should have any more than one bracket entered, just to keep it fair to everybody....

Wolfeman

02-03-2006 12:51:05

$15.76 would be the entry fee. I think thats a good amount, not too much but the winner can actually win a decent amount (20 people pay 1st place gets $180, 2nd $75, 3rd $45). 1 bracket per person. I like that the points increase X2 each round so if you pick right down to the champion you get big bonuses. To make this clearer, each right pick in each of these rounds gets you this many points
1 - 1 pt.
2 - 2 pts.
Sweet 16 - 4 pts.
Elite 8 - 8 pts.
Final Four - 16 pts.
Champion - 32 pts.
