It looks like I may be able to keep my work laptop. It's a Dell Latitude D610 running XP Pro. Any way to reset the admin password or do I need to just wipe the whole thing and start fresh? Getting the password from the real admin is not an option. Thanks!

There's a program to use but you'll need another computer to make a bootable CD to run on your laptop...i'll update this post with the prog in a minute.

You need winrar to extract it

If you are running [ba555cb066e]Windows XP Home Edition[/ba555cb066e], restart the computer and then use a power user account to log on to the
computer in [ua555cb066e]Safe mode[/ua555cb066e].

[quotea555cb066e]To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "[ba555cb066e]F8 Key[/ba555cb066e]" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.[/quotea555cb066e]

- If you are running [ba555cb066e]Windows XP Professional[/ba555cb066e], reset the password in the Local Users and Groups snap-in in Microsoft
Management Console (MMC)

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type "mmc" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK to start MMC.
3. Start the Local Users and Groups snap-in.
4. Under Console Root, expand "Local Users and Groups", and then click Users.
5. In the right pane, right-click Administrator, and then click Set Password.
6. Click Proceed in the message box that appears.
7. Type and confirm the new password in the appropriate boxes, and then click OK.
